We all love and emotionally attached with indigenous projects but truth is, Kaveri is dead now. 52-82kN was produced during some points of testing but can't sustain it for long due to many reasons. We need to start a fresh engine project for future applications. if Kaveri is producing sustainable power of 52-82kN then there are still plenty of uses other than for Tejas
It's not dead.

Jet engine requires lot of testing and funds in just 600 million we have learned alot. The money which gave is just peanuts.
Kaveri engine core had rattling issues but that was fixed by saffron

It is having heating issues a bangalore based company is making a ceramic coating which will help it to stay cool and absorb heat from the core.

Kaveri engine will be used in future drones.

NEW DELHI: The Narendra Modi government is set to give the green light to a Rs 3,000-crore plan to develop Ghatak, a new engine that will power India’s first unmanned combat aircraft, or drones capable of delivering bombs as well as tackling aerial threats, as part of a project that envisages major participation of the private sector.

Ghatak will be a derivative of the abandoned Kaveri project that had been in the works for over two decades, officials said. The key difference in the current plan is the proposed participation of the private sector in a significant way.

Its not 82 KN dude. Wet thrust is around 75 KN.
I found this on Wikipedia:
“In recent times, the engine has been able to produce thrust of 18,000 lbf(82 kN) but what the IAF and other stake-holders desire is power between 20,000–21,000 lbf (90–95 kN)" ...but the citation source says 70-75.
What kind of lying chutiyas edit Wikipedia??!!!

guys, does anyone know if there are plans to buy IRST pods like 'legion' pods for Mk1 and Mk1a? If I'm right, lack of IRST is one of the major achilles heel of Tejas.

LOL. Don't rely on wiki too much man. Some morons are present everywhere. And defence especially is an area where facts are scarce and rumors are abundant. I usually double check every claim I make here.

Yeah I too check on Google for other sources, mostly read citations. But frankly, didn't expect this blatant a lie.

On the last day of 2018, India’s Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas received A new ‘limited’ clearance from Centre for Military Airworthiness & Certification (CEMILAC), a laboratory of the Defence Research and Development Organisation. With this, the Tejas has progressed towards manufacture in an enhanced, battle standard format.

Of the 40 LCA being manufactured for the IAF by HAL, 20 are being manufactured in the Initial Operation Clearance (IOC) version and the next 20 in Final Operation Clearance (FOC) version. The latter version adds many features over the IOC version and indicates that the fighter is fully equipped and fit for battle. However, as the Limited Clearance implies, Tejas is still some distance from being given FOC standard clearance. It appears that this was done to speed up production and keep HAL’s idling facilities engaged and that further improvements would follow in the ‘FOC-2’ phase. Some officials also stated that what has been given is ‘almost-full’ FOC and that very few additions can be added later. To get the final FOC certification, the plane must have battle-time requirements — such as mid-air refuelling, AESA radar, electronic warfare suites, a variety of bombs and weapons, among others. As of now, it has passed mid-air refuelling and armament testing.
