Not necessarily. F-18 is notorious for losing energy quickly & gaining slowly (from F-18 pilot on youtube). The Su-27 line is pretty draggy too.
On the other hand, Mirage-2000 is not that heavy...

Max 4 without dual-racks. The outboard pylons should be able to carry Derby too but never seen such config.
Then the mk1 a should be able to carry 6 AAMs for greater combat persistence. After all, it has 8 hardpoints and if one carries the EW pod and the other carries a fuel tank then remaining 6 can carry AAMs for air superiority mission .

Don't know about that , can you share anything about it .

The pilot may be explained about a manuvering called the pirouette , in which F18 is excellent.

F28 has s the ability to execute a rapid energy excursion using this manuvering, and can point it's nose as the pilot wish. All fighter pilots knows this and use this in their own jets, but Hornet does this better than many other. But F 18 will have a harder time getting the energy back after this kind of high energy manuvers . Thrust level of Engine is also an important part in energy of añ Aircraft.

IAF chief ACM Rakesh Bhadauria flew LCA #Tejas at AFS Sulur inaugurating the 2nd Completely INDIGENOUS (MADE in INDIA) LCA Tejas squadron. -18 Squadron is called the FLYING BULLETS. It's the motto: 'Teevra Aur Nirbhaya'. Great to see MADE IN INDIA Jets in INDIAN AIR FORCE.

Why does it always carry those R-73 dummies though.
IAF insists that two CCMs are part of the aircraft so to speak, i.e. when you calculate Actual Zero Fuel Weight (AZFW, different from manufacturer's empty weight), its aircraft plus pylons plus pilot plus 2 CCMs.

So in order to make sure the plane always weighs exactly the same as the Actual Zero Fuel Weight (AZFW) - when empty, they stick two dummies of the same weight on it.

IAF operationalises no.18 Squadron, equips it with LCA Tejas
Formed on April 15, 1965, with the motto ‘Teevra aur Nirbhaya’ meaning ‘Swift and Fearless’, the Squadron was flying MiG 27 aircraft before it got number plated on April 15, 2016.
The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Wednesday operationalised its no.18 Squadron, the “Flying Bullets”, at Sulur near here, equipping it with the fourth generation Mk1 LCA (Light Combat Aircraft) Tejas.

The indigenous tailless compound delta wing aircraft was inducted at an official ceremony in the presence of Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria at the Sulur Air Force Station.

The No.18 Squadron will be the second one to have the home-made Tejas, after the 45 Squadron based here.

An all-faith prayer was held and a coconut broken to mark the induction of Tejas today.

The No 18 Squadron, formed in 1965 with the motto “Teevra aur Nirbhaya” meaning “Swift and Fearless,” was earlier flying MiG 27 aircraft.

The Squadron “actively participated” in the 1971 war with Pakistan.

The Squadron was “resurrected” on April 1 this year at Sulur.

Tejas is equipped with fly-by-wire flight control system, integrated digital avionics and multimode radar, while its structure is made of composite material.

It is also the “lightest and smallest” in its group of fourth generation supersonic combat aircraft,” a Defence release on Monday said.

This is latest info on kaveri

As you can see it has reached 81 Kn recently. Also look at TWR at 7.8 it's no longer overweight .
But it still has issue sustaining performance for long time.

And 81 Kn is no longer deemed suitable by IAF for lca can only mean that f404 IN 20 trust should be much higher.
Absolutely, but to reach anywhere near 90Kn, this engine would require a second low-pressure turbine stage made from composites, especially ceramics (ideal choice) because to reach those numbers in Wet thrust, 2nd stage needs to be stable during those high temperatures.
