The guy who tweeted said its not a mockup.. however I'm not sure which version is it.. doesnt seem to be FOC std (doesnt have IFR), probably not IOC SP (they are not cleared for BVRAAM firing afaik).. could be one of the LSP aircraft probably

It seems to be astra coz the control section wing is closer to the guidance section, like in astra.. whereas in R-77 the wing is behind, nearer to tail section. For reference:

Yes but it's painful.to see china making all the right decisions and our foolish decision makers making all the wrong choices be it mmrca p75i...chinis didn't even have single aircrfat carrier couple of years ago...and today they have 2 and 3rd in making and then we have our vikrant sitting at the same place for more than 10 years....ideally we should just cancel mmrca contract and build up our force multipliers AEWCS, jammer aircrafts,ELINT in very large quantities....

And in more military / nationalistic terms they have successfully turned every neighbour against them, made their closest 1950s friend India into a key strategic bulwark against them, built a reputation for being uncultured and crooks and have a stable full of third rate ripoffs of western or russian systems.

Quite a decent payoff in return for living in a brutal dictatorship.

Guys... Let's get done with the cheering of sp21 first flight... HAL said they will produce 4 sp by March but stuck only at one... They again failed to deliver... It will take them 4+ year to deliver remaining 23 jets... And if i remember correctly sp1 took off in 2015..
So 9 years to deliver 40 jets... Great speed of production... and that too if their is no more delays... Which is highly unlikely

Absolutely true. In manoeuvering and tight turns you need KTM Duke 300 and not Royal Enfield 650.

Generally new missiles travels with mach 4 speed so to out run them isn't cakewalk.

What you need is to run.. and show em your tail In a tail chase there will be a decrease in missile range.

Second if you can pull high G's it will bleed the missile's energy specially at the end .

In short both provide advantage but it is maneuverability which is more important .

This is from indranil. To those who have doubted lca payload . 3.8 ton is already proven they plan to test upto 4.3 ton payload in due course.

2*1200 ltr tanks + 2 LGB + LDP +2*CCM = 2*1200*0.8*1.1+ 2*500+200+2*100 = 3.5 tons
4 bombs in tandem carriage + 2*800 ltr tanks + LDP +2*CCM= 4*450+2*800*0.8*1.1+200+2*100 = 3.6 tons
1*725 centerline tank + 6*450 kg bombs + LDP + 2*CCM = 3.74 tons
2*1200 ltr tanks + 1*725 centerline tank + 2*450 kg bomb + LDP + 2*CCM = 2*1200*0.8*1.1+725*0.8*1.1+2*450+200+2*100 =4.05 tons

Planned:
1*725 centerline tank + 2*1200 ltr tanks + 2 LGB + LDP +2*CCM = 1.1+725*0.8*1.1+2*1200*0.8*1.1+ 2*500+200+2*100 = 4.15 tons

It can carry 6 1000 pounder bombs already that too with centreline tank and 2 ccm . What was jaguars max ? 8 bombs ?
