It is still not bad.. as we all know AMCA won't come before 2035 so what if those 5 years + a buffer for delay is created with a twin engine which essentially replace and end the mmrcs and naval requirement for a foreign jet.

I have said it before only concern is the resources at the top in ADA for design and validation etc. If we have enough genius there it is a fantastic idea to follow on.

I understand IAF reluctance though they are in a very tight situation so for them we will need to throw money for 18-36 Rafale.

Not really. 6 missiles it can carry. Also the pylons can be modified but they chose it that way for ground attack purpose. I will mock JF 17 as much you want me to but not J 10 . Remember this is basically an Israeli Improvement over F 16 and Mirage experience.

J 10 engine is same as on Sukhoi .When it comes to the jet it is definitely better than F 16 in terms of performance available online (might be inflated) but one thing which will keep it definitely down is its ew suite radar and missiles compared to western one.

This is the area we can work on too.

Their best ir missile is basically Israeli python 3 and it's variant

Their Pl 12/15/21 is basically russian R 77 with Chinese rockets to increase range and improvement over the radars and electronics.
SD10 an improved Italian aspide missile.

So by choosing Derby ER for Tejas and ASRAAM IR we have an advantage.

Now Radar : they are definitely ahead in this game. But we got Elta 2052 AeSA radar better than what they got unfortunately the nose size and space of Tejas limit its tracking range.

The ew suite in development for AMCA will make its way into mk2 so we will even out in that dept too.

Rest assured they won't be sending their J 10 over himalayas nor our Tejas will be there.

If they give it to PAF then it will be a real threat.
Range of ELTA 2052 is said to be between 180-250km depending upon variant.
Range of UTTAM AESA is 150km for RCS of 2m^2.

And that is it's biggest weakness. Sukhoi engine are notorious for failure rates on twin engine plane cag has reported repeated issues with al31. But being twin engine it's manageable. Single engine jet with such an unreliable engine is really a compulsion for China as they don't have access to Western engine and their domestic engine are even more unreliable.

That's why Russian went for twin engine mig29/ mig35 as a light / medium fighter because they themselves know building a single engine jet on their engine is stupid.

And that's why Chinese have to have such a large number of j10 because at least half will never be available at a given time and those who will fly a lot will crash due to engine failure but Chinese are willing to sacrifice pilots as they have done since the time of Mao.

F16 engine is way more fuel efficient than al31 giving it much better endurance than j10 also f16 aesa and bvr both are 2 step ahead of j10. J10 is no match to even older f16 that's why porky wanted second hand f16 from all over the world over buying j10 from China. They are already regretting jf17 and it's frequent crashed j10 will be same story only more costly.

Nope they are not ahead. There awacs with aesa were wer even used by Porky's in balakot aftermath as they were useless compared to saab eriye.

Also they have no benchmark as they have no access to Western aesa. They were desperate to buy phalcons from Israel but USA denied. And india got them.

Elta 2052 is way ahead of any Chinese aesa in both power management , cooling and tracking. RBE2 of rafale is even more sophisticated.

Uttam is benchmarked to elta2052 it's performance matches or exceeds elta. Size doesn't usually limit aesa as RBE shows in it's compact farm. There are more important factors like gain , spacing of t/r module and cooling mechanism . Uttam is a surprising delight.

That will just render entire paf as a ground force .
Both jf17 and j10 will create unprecedented levels of unavailability of jets for paf. No wonder they still love 50 year old mirages.
Porky will only buy it if they are denied even the second hand f16 by USA.

Elta 2052 on Tejaa has 800 around Trm the range is less too 150 km for 3 m2 .

Uttam radar tracking range will be around 130 km

GaN based AeSA isn't available to us right now it can increase the range by 50%

Its Basically A Nil Factor As Chinese AESA KLJ-7 110 Km for 3m2 for look down

What matters Is Quality Of EW And ability of BVRAAM's to Lock target And get firing solutions

During 27 feb All MKI's Detected F-16 Prior to themselves get Detected due to PESA advantage
but What Mattered Is Long Range envelope of Aim-120C5 Which Locked And launched Prior To R-77

Elta 2052 has detection range of 150-175 3m2 for LCA type fighters

Due to Low RCS of LCA loaded It Will be near 2- 3m2
While J-10 Will be 7-8m2

I Think With Derby ER & ASRAAM range advantage LCA Will be at better Advantage And Will have Higher NEZ ratio in there Favor

ORCA imo is waste of time more than anything else. Focus on Tejas SPORT, MK-1A and MK-2 and AMCA. The next twin engine fighter should a 5th gen one. Eitherway 36-54 Rafale are virtually a done deal just a matter of time when there funds are made available.

Tejas FOC/Mark1A configuration concepts.

Replaced tandem pylons with dual-racked BVRs.

Max probable AAMs with 6 BVRs and 3 CCMs.

The more likely 3 tank, 3 BVRs config.

Does tandem pylons even work for air-air missiles? Also, with just the CLDT, what would be the combat radius of Tejas considering that current combat radius of Mk-1 FOC is 350km? Correct me if I am wrong..

Probably not. Too long.

725lt over internal 3000lt.

So about 450km. Good enough for CAP or interception.

India's state of Art ARDE's Canopy Severance system (CSS) for LCA Tejas.
CSS is to rescue the pilot in the shortest possible time during the emergency of fighter jets.

Consists of 2 independent sys:

Ground Egress system (GES)
In-flight Egress system (IES)

IES rescues the pilot in case of emergencies when the aircraft is in flight.
GES rescues the pilot case of ground emergencies without initiating the ejection

Is it under testing? Or already inducted?
