QUERETARO, Mexico (Reuters) - French aero engine maker Safran SAF.PA expects to be producing 20,000 composite fan blades for the LEAP jet engine by 2021 at its new plant in central Mexico's Queretaro state, the company's chief executive Philippe Petitcolin said on Wednesday.

The composites plant, a joint $100 million investment with Albany International, was built to meet record order books for new LEAP engines and an increase in production rates requested by planemakers, especially Boeing's BA.N 737 MAX.

In Mexico, there are orders for LEAP engines for 60 Aeromexico 737 aircraft and 35 A320neo aircraft for Interjet, said Safran.

“We want to open more plants in Mexico, in Queretaro. It’s a possibility and will depend on demand,” Petitcolin told reporters.

The new plant, the third joint venture between the firms, was officially inaugurated on Wednesday but already delivered its first parts in October. It makes 3D woven composite fan blades for the LEAP engine from CFM International.

The completion of the rear fuselage of the 100th Global 7500 aircraft to be completed by Querétaro's dedicated and trained employees marks another significant milestone in accelerating the flagship program's learning curve.
In this context, the Bombardier company is proud to announce the 15th anniversary of its world-class manufacturing operations in Querétaro, Mexico. The achievement is further highlighted by the recent site completion of the 100th rear fuselage for the industry's flagship Global 7500 airliner, underscoring the talent and skill of its dedicated employees.
Since establishing a manufacturing facility in Mexico in 2006, Bombardier has demonstrated its commitment to the country, helping to develop and grow its aerospace industry. Today, Mexico's prestigious aerospace cluster makes it an important player on an international scale. Bombardier's state-of-the-art facility in Querétaro employs highly trained teams to manufacture key structural components for the company's leading executive jets, including the rear fuselage of all Global aircraft. This important mandate is a source of great pride for the talented local workforce.

If it gets successful ,your future radar would be really impressive ,as you get hand on tech ,our indigenous radars have improved significantly and many aesa radar are developed in a fraction of time frame
We hope, INVAP is a company that has been improving a lot, if their work on that radar progresses i can see it as a possible option to upgrade aircraft or even for a new one!
