With a robotics as a service (RaaS) model, the Mexican company Roomie IT Services seeks to promote the mass adoption of humanoid devices with autonomous movement developed in the country.

The Covid-19 pandemic made companies look for options to automate processes and reduce human contact.

One of the options developed by the firm headed by Aldo Luévano was to add its humanoid robots to efforts to reduce virus infections.

Roomie IT Services is the only Mexican manufacturer of humanoid robots that since 2014 has been doing research and development of artificial intelligence, machine learning, robotics and other technologies.

The company has the backing of Intel and Amazon Web Services and its client portfolio includes companies such as Citibanamex, Bimbo, Bayer, Gentera, Deloitte, Total Play and the Ministry of Economy, among others.

The efforts against the Covid were well accepted, but in Mexico and the world the adoption has been gradual because it demands the purchase of robots and the hiring of specialized personnel.

Aldo and his team of young Mexican engineers went one step further and implemented the RaaS model: it allows companies to integrate robotics into their operations under a rent-on-demand scheme, which Roomie IT Services plans to take advantage of through three robot verticals: Social, Security and Delivery (Delivery).

All manufactured in Tlalnepantla, State of Mexico, by Mexican talent.

“The only offer you had as a company is to acquire the robots in a Capex approach (capital investment), what we are offering is Raas, changing the Capex approach to one of Opex (operating expense).

"We are looking to bring RaaS so that we take 100 percent responsibility for the underlying activities of the robots," said Aldo Luévano, CEO of Roomie IT Services.

Solutions manufactured by Asian competitors that are marketed in the region are sold on a massive scale, which limits a company from adapting functionality to its needs; A RaaS approach allows the robot software to be special for each company.

“Our goal is to bring robot rental as a service to all of Latin America. The first step is to enable the business model for this year in Mexico, to leverage with clients who have already acquired robots from us; based on that later go to a deployment in the US and Canada ”said the CEO.

Roomie IT Services already exported robots to the entire continent under a Capex scheme.

Among the applications that these robots have is customer service in stores, banks, airports and hotels, as well as security care, even in a single hardware both functionalities can be integrated.
