Kyrgyzstan threatens to close the U.S. base of Manas, if she will not give a cursory Maxim Bakiyev

Kyrgyz authorities have threatened to close the U.S. base at Manas in the case, if Britain refuses to extradite detained on Sunday at Farnborough Airport in Hampshire, son of ex-President Kurmanbek Bakiyev - Maxim Bakiyev. Note that Russia is suspected of putting pressure on the interim government of Kyrgyzstan in terms of removing bases from the territory of the republic. At the same time in the administration of U.S. President does not believe that Russia is trying to use the unstable situation in Kyrgyzstan, to resolve concerns of the American military presence.

At a press conference on Thursday, Deputy Chairman of the Provisional Government of Kyrgyzstan, coordinator of the Public Ministry and the courts Beknazarov promised to raise the issue of the conclusions of the transit dollars from Kyrgyzstan, if the British refused to extradite Bakiyev, Jr., reported AKI.

Beknazarov also considers it important to find out whether Maxim Bakiyev was detained, or he surrendered himself to the British authorities in hopes of finding political asylum there. According to a representative interim government, this option is possible because, according to some, Bakiyev advises Neighborhood resident in the UK the Russian oligarch Boris Berezovsky.

The British newspaper The Times on Thursday reported that Maxim Bakiev has already asked for political asylum in Britain. According to the publication, who was arrested June 13 Border Service of the United Kingdom Farnborough Airport at the request of Interpol Bakiyev Jr. had with him the necessary documents. He flew to Britain on a private plane, writes InoPressa. As experts note, in connection with the Prosecutor General's request for extradition Kyrgyzstan Maxim Bakiyev British Ministry of Internal Affairs in a tricky situation - in fact between Britain and the country has no extradition treaty.

According to the representative of the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, any request by the transitional government about the issue of Maxim Bakiyev will be considered by the coalition government of Great Britain seriously, ITAR-TASS.

As pointed out on Thursday at a press conference in Kyrgyzstan Beknazarov, England never gives people who arrive on its territory. However, since Britain in conjunction with the U.S. in fighting terrorism and is interested in hosting the Manas airbase, it should go to meet the request of the Kyrgyz authorities to extradite the Maxim Bakiev for his trial. Bakiyev, Jr., previously announced in the Interpol wanted list, is suspected of committing crimes of an economic nature, in particular, in the theft of public funds. At home he accused in absentia and given a court order for his arrest. Prior to the change of power, he headed the Central Agency for Development, Innovation and Investment.

As stressed Beknazarov in recent activity Bakiyev, Jr. is an element of terrorism. Maxim Bakiev is suspected of organizing riots in Osh and Jalal-Abad. Recall that the tragic events, the latest figures, claimed the lives of 191 people, injured 1,971 people. According to a member of the interim government if the U.S. and Britain really fight terrorism, then they should give Bakiyev of Kyrgyzstan.

Inopressa: Russia is seeking the withdrawal of U.S. base

Some Western experts suspect Russia is that it works behind the scenes the game, which aims at closing the U.S. base "Manas". At the same time in the administration of U.S. President Barack Obama does not see any action on the part of Russia, aimed at closing the base. As stated by Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Philip Gordon, the U.S. does not believe that Russia is trying to use the events in Kyrgyzstan for the findings of the base. According to Interfax, reported that Gordon said after a speech in the heart of Marshall with a speech on US-Russian relations.

Speaking about the situation in Kyrgyzstan, a representative of the State Department noted that the U.S. administration is "at an early stage of understanding" of how it can help to Kyrgyzstan, hold multilateral consultations on this subject. The American diplomat stressed that the joint Russian-American peace-keeping operation in Kyrgyzstan is not considered, although the parties have common interests in this country.

Meanwhile, Western media continue to write about the interest of Russia to the withdrawal of U.S. bases from the territory of Kyrgyzstan. As writes The Wall Street Journal, the American base, Manas has long irritated Moscow, and at the beginning of last year, the Russian side has nearly achieved its closure, according InoPressa.

Then it was announced the closure of the base, but President Bakiyev after the U.S. agreement to increase the rent stated on the opening instead of the base of the Centre of transit. This decision Bakiyev unpleasantly surprised Russia, the newspaper notes. Relations with the regime Bakiyev became strained. From April 1, Russia strongly increased the duty on exports of gasoline in Kyrgyzstan, but only a few days of bloody unrest began, ended the flight and the resignation of Bakiyev.

Recall that the foreign media immediately after the coup in Kyrgyzstan, written about the "hand of Moscow". According to The Wall Street Journal, now, having achieved the overthrow of Bakiyev, Russia presses on an interim government to expel the U.S. from the base of Manas. Therefore, the newspaper believes, Russia does not interfere in the situation, as the more acute situation, the Government of Kyrgyzstan will be compliant.
