The onus is on the Centre as much as it is on the State Govt. That region has a large Christian population.Much of the fisherfolk there are Christian. Infact the congress is quite strong in that region.TN is 4000 MW short the last that I heard. Power cuts in chennai and other cities are rampant. Situation is same everywhere. TN should be thankful that thy have a nuke power plant.
This is as bad as it can get from attracting investment point to view. You are going to scare away potential investors. India was always bad at attracting investors and always dis something to drive them away. No wonder China caught the bus while we are still to reach the Bus Station.
The PM should do everything possible to convince the protesters and wean them away from vested interests .Those guys are cashing in on the Fukushima episode and instigating the unlettered and the semi lettered folks along the coast.
Some opposition politicians mostly from some fringe parties are also involved in this. The state Govt does not want to take unnecessary risk since this is basically a Central Govt project. The PM and the Central Govt have to play a bigger role here, If so some believe the state govt's current line might change after the elections.
