THE FRENCH MINISTRY OF THE ARMED FORCES ORDERS 367 MICA NG (NEW GENERATION) MISSILES
Twitter
At a weekly press briefing on Thursday 18 March, a spokesperson for the French Ministry of the Armed Forces highlighted the order placed for 367 MICA NG next-generation interception, combat and self-defence missiles.

• MICA NG: addressing the evolution of adverse threats, protecting national territory, acquiring and maintaining air superiority.

The order – welcomed by the Armed Forces Minister and notified to MBDA by the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) on 5 March – provides for the delivery of 367 MICA NGs between 2028 and 2031.

Under the programme, implemented as part of the 2019-2025 military programming law, a total of 567 MICA NGs are planned. This figure includes 200 already ordered from MBDA by the DGA at the end of 2018, for delivery from 2026 onwards. The MICA NGs will upgrade the medium-range interception, close combat and self-protection capabilities of French Air Force and Navy Rafales.

This order further consolidates France’s defence technological and industrial base by securing the employment of 200 to 300 people over a five-year period at MBDA and its subcontractors; in total, the MICA NG programme represents an investment of around 1.8 billion euros.

Major boost will be when we place follow on order 36 + 36 aircrafts. We need IAF inventory to be at least 6 sqaudrons strength at 108 Rafales and operational availablity at 70-80 aircrafts
Based on CDS's comments on staggered aquisition in next few years another batch might be ordered . No way airforce will settle for 36 only. At least another 44 will be ordered. Though we have to see what role the mmrca contract will play in all these.

MMMRCA 2.0 is just IAF creating a ruse to buy 114 more rafale so in the end we may end up with 150 rafales. After all the dilemma with pappu it is the only way for IAF for getting the rafales it need

With all the infra we have invested to Rafale manufacturing in India you think govt won't go for additional Rafales order? IAF doesn't need a ruse and they are clear even if additional 44 Rafales
ordered they want to buy MMRCA 2.0 114 single engine jets. Even ACM cleared it after Tejas order IAF still wants MMRCA to happen.

Not only a bridge... it can also help us in our immediate neighbourhood as a credible fighting machine since neither China nor Pakistan has a 5th generation fighter and the chances of them getting their 5th generation ready before ours is remote (since the Russians are working on it feverishly)

So, I don't see anything wrong in spending for the Rafael which is a good fighter or even for the Eurofighter Typhoon (the most expensive of the lot...)
Lol, this comment aged like gold.

Seeing he has difficulty remembering the start of any sentence by the time he gets to its end.. quite the Don Quixote of Indian politics.. Wouldn't bet on him remembering too much!

es suspicious payments ??? What is suspicious in this model clearly visible in Front of the house of the IAF chief ? What is suspicious when the gifts have been clearly mentionned in a press brief 2 years ago ?
IAF sources said the model was supplied by Dassault, as manufacturers did under any other contract. The first model of the Rafale was put up inside the Air Headquarters: A fully-loaded Rafale is the first thing one sees as they step through the gates of the heavily- guarded Air Headquarters.

“The second model has come up at the chief’s house,” one of the sources said.
