According to this article lack of two way data link means the rafale won't be able to exploit the full capabilities of the meteor missile.
The article says we have paid for that technology . And india specific rafael ll have it ... But we might not get the benifit of accessing that technology to use in our other projects .. thats wht i understood.

You should not worry about this. If the two-way data link was a serious concern, IAF would have requested it with the other Indian Specific Enhancements.

Here`s why India`s Rafale fighter jet is a better choice for dogfight than Pakistan`s US-made F-16

Here's why India's Rafale fighter jet is a better choice for dogfight than Pakistan's US-made F-16

According to reports, the warplanes that rained bombs at al-Watiya airbase in western Libya were Rafale jets, which means that the attack was carried out either by France or Egypt as they are the only two countries within the range of the base that possess this type of aircraft.

According to reports, the warplanes that rained bombs at al-Watiya airbase in western Libya were Rafale jets, which means that the attack was carried out either by France or Egypt as they are the only two countries within the range of the base that possess this type of aircraft.

Pakistan must be following this development closely as India is also getting the Rafale fighter jets and the bombings on Turkish airbase reveal that Pakistan Air Force's F-16s are no match for the French fighter jets. The PAF's F-16s, which are supplied by United States of America are the most sophisticated fighter jets of PAF but with Indian Air Force getting Rafale, the PAF will not be able to carry out any aggressive move against India.

Notably, the first batch of six Rafale fighter jets is most likely to arrive in India on July 27. The delivery of aircraft was earlier supposed to have been done by May end, but this got delayed due to the COVID-19 crisis.
On June 2, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a telephonic conversation with his French counterpart Florence Parly during which she conveyed that the Rafale jets will be delivered to India as scheduled notwithstanding the coronavirus pandemic in France.

The first squadron of the aircraft will be stationed at Ambala air force station, considered one of the most strategically located bases of the IAF. India had signed an inter-governmental agreement with France in September 2016 for procurement of 36 Rafale fighter jets at a cost of around Rs 58,000 crore.

Here is a comparative study of the features between Rafale and the US-made F-16 in possession of Pakistan. (With inputs from quora.com)
Rafale:

- Max speed winner is Rafale 579 knots. The Rafale reaches a maximum speed that is 410 knots faster than the F-16.

- Maximum thrust is 34,000 (lbf / pound-force). Rafale produces 5,000 more pound-forces of thrust than the F-16.

- Take-off Weight for Rafale is 54,000 (lbs)

- Exterior Dimensions: Height 17.52 feet., wingspan 35.43 feet, total length 50.10 feet.

On a french well informed media :

-The 8 dual seat Rafale are all produced, but will stay in France for pilot training (it's not perfectly clear.... ).
-At least 4 single seaters are produced so far. More probably 6, to be delivered at the end of this month.
-Some SCALP and Meteor alreday delivered, from a stock of french ones.
-The towed electronic support system is the X Guard, from Rafael.

It seems that the US was not really keen to urge some weapons delivery, following the recent crisis between India and China. It was not the case of Russia and France.... (not a good news for F21 and SH18...)
There are no delays from the US, everything is being delivered at record pace. We'll be getting MH-64R by end of year already once ordered in early 2020.

Top IAF brass to meet to discuss China border situation, rapid Rafale deployment this week
Amid the ongoing tensions with China, top Air Force commanders will meet this week to discuss the situation on the Line of Actual Control with China in Eastern Ladakh and rapid operational station of the Rafale combat aircraft arriving later this month.

The top commanders will meet this week for the two-days commanders' conference starting from July 22 where they will deliberate on a range of security issues, Indian Air Force officials told ANI.

One of the main agenda points during the conference headed by Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria and attended by all seven of his commanders-in-chief would be about the situation on the borders with China and the forward deployments done by the force in the Eastern Ladakh and northern borders, sources said.

The Air Force has deployed its entire fleet of modern fighters like Mirage 2000, Sukhoi-30, and the MiG-29 fighters all along with the advanced and forward bases from where they have been carrying out both day and night operations.

The advanced Apache attack helicopter has also been deployed in forward bases along the China border and are carrying out frequent sorties over the Eastern Ladakh region even during night time.

The IAF brass will also discuss the rapid deployment and operationalisation of the Rafale fighter jets arriving in the country by end of this month from France.

The most advanced jets of the South Asian region are going to give an edge to the Air Force over their adversaries as they are fitted with most advanced weapon systems, officials said.

The India Specific Enhancements in the fighter jets along with the long-range weapons like the Meteor air to air missiles are going to give India an edge over China and Pakistan, they said.

The Air Force is also working on the integration of the French fighters with the Russian-origin fleet and make them compatible in operations.

The IAF chief played a significant role in concluding India's biggest ever defence deal as head of the Indian Negotiation Team for the project under which 36 Rafale jets worth around Rs 60,000 crore will be coming to India under emergency purchase route.

The two squadrons of Rafale will also help India to stem the downfall in the number of fighting units in the force as well as strengthen its capabilities to carry out long-range attacks.

IAF may deploy Rafale fighter jets in Ladakh to stop Chinese incursions at LAC
After the recent border disputes with China, Indian Army will definitely remain extra vigilant at Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh to prevent Chinese troops from intruding on Indian territories. Sources said that Indian Army is set to take strong steps in near future to prevent infiltration by Chinese troops at LAC.

The top commanders of the Indian Air Force are scheduled to conduct a comprehensive review of the country's air defense system in a three-day conference starting on Wednesday. The IAF commanders will also discuss the possible deployment of the first fleet of Rafael fighter jets in the Ladakh region in view of the border dispute with China, military sources said.

Sources said that during the conference, the IAF commanders are also expected to hold talks over the deployment of the first fleet of about six Rafale aircraft in Ladakh sector by early August. These aircraft are scheduled to be inducted into the IAF fighter fleet by July end. A commander said, "The commanders will review the emerging security situation in the area and discuss ways to increase the combat capability of the IAF". The conference will be chaired by Air Chief Marshal Air Chief Marshal RKS Bhadauria. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is also expected to address the IAF commanders.

The IAF has been doing night air combat patrols in the eastern Ladakh region for the past few weeks to give a message to China that it is well prepared to deal with any sudden situation in this mountainous region. During Rajnath Singh's visit to Ladakh on Friday (July 17), several military systems of the IAF had participated in a military exercise at Stakna in East Ladakh. The coordinated combat capability of the Army and Air Force in dealing with complex security scenario in high altitude area was demonstrated in this exercise.

The IAF has deployed almost all its front-line combat aircraft like Sukhoi 30 MKI, Jaguar, Mirage 2000 at key frontier IAF bases in East Ladakh and locations along the LAC. The IAF has also deployed Apache attack helicopters and Chinook helicopters to transport troops to various advance locations.

@BON PLAN I was searching for F4 upgrade news and the usage of GaN modules . the most recent I can find is this

If the GaN-based AESA technology today seems too expensive to be applied on the antenna of an RBE2, it should be on those of the SPECTRA system,

is it true that no GaN radar for 2025?
and what about SPECTRA ? will the change be only a modules type change or a complete change in the suit including MFA like suggested by thales ?
