Guys it is not that it is end of life. Kaveri was learning for us. It created infrastructure for testing. Still we dont have high altitude testing and test bed on transport plane.

They are going to restart the new engine development programme. We will now dependant on US for LCA Engines.

Lets start a fresh again with new and higher objectives.
Isn't it quite ironic that Modi goes across the world to promote MAKE in India and here we r almost shelving the only indeginous engine project...

not modis fault here, when the makers of engine are saying that they cant do it, then what can modi probably do- force them to make it....now GTRE will "start from scratch", and there are some foreign firms ready for JV.

This is where DRDO made the mistake in Kavery. Mature production processes are required for DESIGN PROCESS ITSELF. How much industrial experience GTRE has??

You can buy machines for trial production but that does not give you experience. There is no substitute for experience.

Only HAL has built aviation turbines in this country. No engine project can succeed without HAL. And no engine project can succeed due to HAL. HAL is the biggest problem in Indian aviation industry.
When Kaveri was initiated in 1980s HAL was producing no world class engines.
VK saraswath has gone on record to state that eventhough HAL has SCB tech from Su-30 MKI, it has no experience or competence in turning them into newer versions for indian kaveri effort.
SO shop floor is not the prime criterian. HAL and GTRE are just side by side in bangalore. So GTRE could have had access to all HAL workshops.

This is what I am saying also. Incompetence of HAL plays into any engine project. HAL has been unable to build competence in making engines. This is HAL's biggest failure.

Any engine whether aero-engine or automobile engine, is an industrial project.

GTRE does not have a magic wand. However I feel that Kavery should run to its logical conclusion - that is a fully functioning engine even if it cannot be used in LCA Tejas. An aviation engine has a lot of uses.

Even a lower spec Kavery may be sufficient for LCA Tejas "attack" aircraft version. LCA Tejas lugs 3.5 tonnes which is similar to Mig-27. A LCA Tejas version with local MMR and local Kavery engine may cost about 18 million dollars. This is similar to Hawk trainer. Such an aircraft is ideal in an attack role.

IAF planning is flawed. IAF wants to go for all high-end platforms which does not suit Indian conditions.

Kaveri and Tejas will share the same fate.

Which fate?

With working core, KMGT, learning from kaveri will be the basis of future jet engine development.

With 40 tejas mk1 and 120 plus tejas mk2 , the fate of tejas is already written.

So which new fate you are going to write?

Kaveri failed to come into meaningful existence. Same will happen with any future turbofan project.

Tejas failed to meet its project objectives (Replacing Mig-21,23,27) which will be replaced by Rafales and soon Gripens. It will only come into service as a laboratory project/trainer.

120 tejas mk2? What is tejas mk2? some mythical project? It dosent exist as of now. 4-5 years for design and design validation at least. Could be 2025 until first prototype exists in physical form. As of now its a theoretical project like a human colony on mars.

Are you the same Anish - the perpetual ranter from another name sake forum?

I am sure you are.

Jet engine development is a continuous effort.

No one can jump to next tech level without gaining experience on kaveri.

Kaveri has achieved close to 90 percent of its wet thrust , since tejas mk2 needs a 98 Kn engine, no use developing it further, instead new engine for AMCA with 120 Kn thrust is sought to be developed. That was the reported news. So you may define your own concept of ,"meaningful existence" in any manner convenient to you. But the truth won't change.

Re: Kaveri for Infamous MIG-21 fleet

Kaveri is not a tubro fan but a Military Turbo fan with Afterburner Engine ( Learn ) ..

14 Squadron of Tejas are already ordered by MOD ( Google ) , I see no Rafale or Gripen orders yet ..

IAF does see that and ordered so, It does not have same way of thinking as your ( Lurk and Post ) ..

================

We do not recommend starting same debates over and over again for Individual members,

If you here for trolling, I will make sure your way out of here ..

Research and development is a never ending process when it comes to HAL/ADA/GTRE/DRDO etc.

Cannot make a 98kn engine but can make a 120kn engine? What logic is that?

Let GTRE make a 20n engine for UAV before it goes any further.

Im just here to differentiate fact from fiction and reality from fantasy.

Tejas is in shop floor for production , not for unending R&D.

And please consult a good astrologer to know when india will be buying Gripen!!!!
So you are now confirming that you are the same Anish from another namesake forum who rants tons of lies !!!!!

Re: Kaveri for Infamous MIG-21 fleet

What you know about R&D ? , From personal experience ..
He does a lot of ranting R&D in another forum which has a name resemblance with ours!!!!

other than that asking his R&D experience can be injurious to mental health.

I had a lot of ,"fruitful discussions" with him earlier in that forum!!!!

He is here for the same purpose you suspected a few posts earlier.

He will confirm it a within a few posts.

Don't worry .

Tejas is far inferior to Mig-21. Lacks BVR.

IAF will go for Gripen after Rafale deal is signed.
