First off, I'm not sure how has this hasn't seen more traction in news.

Second, parts of this post are going to be my own experience as a University student in Kolkata, with friends and acquaintances in JU and other institutes.

What Happened.

>BJP Union Minister Babul Supriyo was supposed to address a seminar by ABVP inside Jadavpur University Campus, He was stopped and heckled by JU students, most of whom are straight-up Naxals, radical left. Along with unlawful restriction, they tried their hardest to not let him speak

>After 1.5 hrs, he was let in and again when he was coming out, they detained him unlawfully and beat him up.(There's video of it).

>The VC of JU refused to call the police to escort the minister out. He let all this happen.

>The Governor of WB himself went to rescue Supriyo. There is news that Mamata Bannerjee repeatedly tried to talk the Governor out from intervening.

>Babul is rescued.

>ABVP members start an assault on JU with terrible destruction. Fires have broken out. Rumours suggest acid, tubelights were used. Rooms are absolutely smashed up. The Naxals have started shivering and calling ABVP fascist while a few hours ago they absolutely refused to let opposition speak in their "liberal campus".

>Many University students in Kolkata are taking out marches, posting support for JU.

Can we start a GoFundMe to supply sporting gear to ABVP?

I have a 3, 4 friendes there but those guys are chill niggae.
I think Engineers in General are chill dudes with right wing leaning.

I bet there aren't many Naxals in the engineering department except a minority.

Arts with some engineering.

I must say, humanities is mostly left leaning in almost all Universities.

As a right winger in humanities, I find myself very alone ideologically.

Even though I highly condemn the heckling of Babul Supriyo I believe that there are 2 sides to a story. Being an ex JU engineering student myself I would opine that JU should be kept free from politics be it Left wing or Right wing.

As for the incident itself Dilip Ghosh's response of a surgical strike to remove Naxals from JU and labeling a female student as a prostitute is truly shameful for someone aspiring to be the next CM of WB.

Yes, it is truly shameful for a CM aspirant on a state where Mamata begum and the previous communist bhadralok have set such high standards for civility and respect for political opponents.

And politics has already entered your beloved JU. Just that now the nationalists and Indians are fighting back, so the entrenched anti national political groups are crying.

The communist bhadralok were hypocrites and Mamata is a Muslim sympathizer. However they never stooped to question what proffesion/trade a lady engages in. Such vulgar and crude language may be the usual silly talk of politicians/CMs of UP and Bihar but Bengal can never tolerate such obscene language.
Remember that Bengal had CMs like Dr. BC Roy. Even Jyoti Basu and B Bhattacharya were well learned.

That's nothing in comparison to what already happens at a daily basis in Bengal, your politicians have already set the bars too high when bad behaviour and un parliamentary languages are concerned. West Bengal is so damn "red" even after losing it out to Bangladeshi Muslims, its just sad. Your people should've been more pro right. Just look at Gujarat and now look at West Bengal. I am sorry, but you guys really need to get your priorities straight.
