News in circulation again regarding Azerbaijan commitment to buy Jf17 Thunders. Azerbaijan is probably seeking Jf17B and later Jf17C (Blk3) to replace its Mig-21 fleet.

JF-17 Thunder might replace some of the Pakistan Airforce Mirage squadrons which have no Air Frame life left in it. Even if it means sacrificing payload factor. Pakistan Airforce had to replace around some 250 Aircraft of F-17PG, F-7PT, Mirage III and V. As of now Pakistan has around 120 JF-17 Aircraft in service. To keep production line Warm, Pakistan Airforce has agreed to induct additional 12 JF-17 Block 2 Aircraft, 50 JF-17 Block 3 Aircraft and 26 JF-17B Two seater Aircraft. Remember original PAF plan was to procure J-10B Aircraft around 36 Numbers, which would replace Mirage Aircrafts in service. Since that has not bees procured, Pakistan had inducted 26 JF-17B and 12 JF-17 Block II.

Pakistan might retain 50 of the F-7PG variants which were procured in 2002 till 2035. Around some 100 Mirages will see service till 2040. Quite interesting decade for both IAF and PAF. Unlike Previous decades falling of fighter squadrons and ageing fleet should be a concern for PAF, because Balakot Airstrike has changed the whole scenario.

But how jf17 will replace Mirage 3/mirage 5...
Jf17 can't carry the payload which mirage 3/5 carries....
Again light aircraft s like Tejas and jf17 can do ground attack accurately....but with certain payload their combat range will be reduce drastically......

Then paf is going to replace f16 with jf17 blk 3 in future......
Again jf17 blk3 can't carry the payload f16 carries..,..

Having a single type of fighter willl subsequently reduce the training time and operational cost.....
But their combat capability will be severely affected....
Their jf17 blk 3 will able to carry a spj...and 4 bvrs and 2 ccms......but it won't be able to manoeuvre like f16 with that configuration.....

Another part is engine, Russian engine has low life...
If anyday jf17 will be integrated with western avionics and weapons...then it will do something...

For info- still now jf17 is not able to carry 4 bvrs and it's operational for 10 years....
Also Tejas is not able to carry 4 bvrs

Sir I have only said jf17 won't able to carry the load that mirage 3/5 carries.....

How come it is a bad Idea? We are replacing a certain number of Mig-27 Aircraft with HAL Tejas.
I dont think Pakistan will replace F-16 till 2040. Any Aircraft which Pakistan may acquire has to replace large number of mirages and F-7. Even If Pakistan acquires 300 JF-17 Thunder it will just replace F-7 and half of the mirages. Still around some 80 mirages have to be replaced.

Going by the situation Pakistan cant afford any new aircraft least for a decade plus few years, Acquiring old F-16 seems to be an ideal option either from Turkey or Venezuela. China if provides anything will insist for payment. JF-17 was primarily Pakistan funding, although China reaped the benefits of its export.

So paf realised that jf17 blk3 in not enough to counter rafale
And definitely if this deal happen s then j10 will be first time exported .....and j10 is a costlier but more capable than jf17 .
It's another threat for India .

The problem is that paf can get chineese fighter s at will,by spending less money in shortest time frame......
Again who knows this might have the condition for paf by the chineese ...to give the fc31 5th gen jet....

IAF needs from Tejas MK1 what PAF claims JF17 can do like space flight, interstellar travel, warp speed refuelling from the sun and potential upgrade to travel across dimensions in MK2 variant.

DRDO and ADA are crap that they can't deliver these modest requirements. IAF is intelligent enough that they planned to get all these absolutely critical requirements on Tejas MK1 directly from Mig-21 upgrade by moving ASQR goal post till they get what they want.. Why should IAF follow what other stupid airforces do by incremental upgrades like MK1,2,3 etc.. That would be too retarded for intelligent folks at IAF.
