Another addition to the success, congrats
Design completed in 2.5 years, means that the aerodynamic is largely unchanged or tweaked while they must have redesigned the cockpit. I will be glad if they open up the specifications. Anyways congrats China, Pakistan will be first customer for 50 Jf17s or more.

It already changed in some areas of the Block 2, the spine for example. And why would the need to re-design the cockpit? It's already one oft the more advanced in it's class, with larger sized MFDs.

Well simply, to accommodate new systems and newly design MC(if they have designed new) and they need to shelve the weight in order to accommodate the aesa and its cooling system, and if they gonna use Air cooled radar, then simple, they have done least designing and banana development since their generals are more focused on HMDS aesa and new offbore missile, that means current Chinese HMDs and offbore missiles are shit. Coming to aesa only China knows if they have aesa or just a wrapper on some hybrid pesa which was gifted by Israel and Russia.

Day by day Pakistan adding new weapons in its inventory. It's J-17 Thunder block 3 is comparable to F-16 block 52 and Gripen D fighter aircraft.

Air Chief Marshal (ACM) Sohail Aman of the Pakistan Air Force has announced that the design of the JF-17 Block-III was finalized after a period of “two-and-a-half years”.The JF-17 Block-III is the first major development of the JF-17 Thunder according to Pakistani media. Block-III will include an active electronically-scanned array radar, a new onboard avionics suite, updated electronic warfare and electronic countermeasures system and, at least in 2015, a helmet-mounted display and sight with high off-boresight air-to-air missile.ACM Aman asserted that the JF-17 Block-III will fulfill the PAF’s requirements for an affordable high-tech aircraft, filling a gap (which he acknowledged) in the area.PAF leaders to maintain a fighter force level of 400 through the foreseeable future.

Better than both with AESA and new targeting pod.

Than using the same logic of yours it means LCA MK1A is better than f16 block 52 and Gripen d and yet to come jf17 block 3.

And therefor LCA mk2 will triumph all 3 of them by a huge margin when it comes.

Jf 17 is a stable design unlike LCA , f16 and Gripen which are unstable designs based on RSS (relaxed static stability) this means they are more manuverable aircrafts and allow easier execution of combat manuvers , better flight and safety envelope.

Also the above 3 aircrafts is LCA f16 and Gripen have digital FBW incorporated due to the RSS design from the start as FBW is required to keep the RSS platform stable all the time without pilot input. Unlike jf17 which flies with older conventional flight control system and doesnt have the flight control performance as exhibited by aircrafts using combination of RSS and FBW .

Jf 17 / FC1 is the only fighter aircraft which is claimed to be 4th generation but is not a RSS based aircraft. All other fighter aircrafts of the same class are RSS based and therefore utilize digital FBW from the start.

Also retro fitting jf17 with FBW will not give it the same level of performance due to the design constraints because one cannot convert a stable aircraft design into a unstable one ie RSS.

So please exercise caution while making such claims.

u see if one keeps repeating a lie , then after some time it becomes the truth. Same can be said with regard to info/propaganda being spewed regarding jf 17. Much like 1 Pakistani = 10 indians propaganda. You know how true that turned out to be :pound:

Not by my logic but technologically Tejas mk1a will be better than F16bl52 and Gripen C/D. Tejas mk2 will be better than mk2 in modularity, not much diff in range and payload, but that's the logic if the existing plans are carried. Naval design mk2 is overkill for all the aircrafts discussed here.

Thanks to NATO. Where is the Chinese variant. I mean didn't Chinese have their targeting pod on offer with Jf17 bl3, after all Pakistan is their first export customer of the jet.

The JF17 is a modular design allowing for the integration of equipment from different contractors. The PAF selected the ASELPOD as the targeting pod for all Pakistani JF17's back in 2015.

http://www.janes.com/article/70935/...ods-for-pakistan-s-jf-17-fighters-says-report

Turkey's Aselsan to supply targeting pods for Pakistan's JF-17 fighters, says report
Gabriel Dominguez, London - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
31 May 2017

Turkish defence company Aselsan has secured a USD24.9 million contract from an overseas customer for the integration of its Aselpod electro-optical targeting pods into aerial platforms, according to a statement published by the Turkish Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) on 26 May.

Aselsan has secured a USD24.9 million contract to supply its Aselpod targeting pods for Pakistan's JF-17 fighters, according to Turkish media. (Aselsan)

The announcement was followed two days later by a report by Turkish newspaper Daily Sabahidentifying Pakistan as the customer, and pointing out that this is the second order for the system placed by the South Asian country.

"Aselsan realised the first Aselpod exports last June to Pakistan, which has re-ordered a year later. The said system will be used on the JF-17 aircraft that Pakistan has jointly developed with China," the paper said in an article that was republished by Turkey's Directorate General of Press Information.

In its 2015-2016 yearbook Pakistan's Ministry of Defence Production had listed a USD24.9 million purchase of eight Aselpod targeting pods for the country's JF-17 Thunder multirole combat aircraft.

According to Jane's World Air Forces , the Pakistan Air Force currently operates an estimated 86 JF-17s.

The latest deal between Pakistan and Turkey is yet another indication of the growing defence industrial ties between the two countries. Earlier this month Turkey signed a contract with the Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) Kamra for the procurement of 52 MFI-17 Super Mushshak primary trainers.

At the same time Pakistan's Karachi Shipyard & Engineering Works Limited (KSEW) signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Turkish defence engineering firm Savunma Teknolojileri Mühendislik ve Ticaret (STM) for the local construction of four Ada (MILGEM)-class corvettes for the Pakistan Navy.

Both deals were signed on 10 May at the 2017 IDEF defence exhibition in Istanbul in a ceremony presided over by Turkish defence minister Fikri Isik and Pakistan's minister for defence production, Tanvir Hussain.

But why. Even the 1980s Mig is modular in that sense. Didn't Chinese have their pod on offer, and what happened to the HMDs, and offbore missile.

Probably the Chinese are ready with their screw-drivers to open this Aselpod.:bplease::bplease:

May be JF-17 Blk-IV will come with "indigenously designed" pod, directly from China.

the main issue with fan boys they directly compare lca and jf17 head to head but even both claim to multi role one is is air interpreter and petrol aircraft another one sole strike air craft ..lets check facts

for jf 17 it have all type of weapon for air to air and air to ground but their integration still in development stage for eg the bvr missiles s10 incorporated but its effectiveness still in tuning state , but same time jf17 pretty much help full in air to ground mission in environment, where less or none SAM or anti aircraft system present ,as matures gradually, jf17 limitations in its dog fight so it always go in pack's with f16 where f16 take the lion share of job , similarly lca is matured for air policing and interception fighter, even with extended range lca payload limitation keep it as a front line interceptor ( the true mig21 replacement) more than a multi role air craft ..hence lca also have very gud technological achievement and flexibility it can only used in limited deep penetration mode along with su30 mki and other deep penetration aircraft along with tanker aircraft §(current mk1 not up to this job) the flexibility with both lca and jf17 is the both can be used as anti ship maritime petrol role with auxiliary target pods and recon pods becoz both compatible with anti-ship missile lunch , where jf17 anti ship role limited due to its radar and flight control system maturity , lca maritime limited by its range and limitation on available anti ship armaments , thus for both paf and iaf lca and jf17 are medium term stoppage measure where in next decade both air-force moves to fifth generation, mark my wards paf go for j31 v2 conifg and iaf go for su57 ( like mki variant something apart from standard model becoz growing pressure from plaf j20 and paf j30 developments )

ps: in end i think those who with better flying and fighting skill will come to top , i hope will those machine have to face each other in future if it comes that never going to end well for both sides

It seems FC-1 does not have POD exclusive extra hardpoint like Tejas.

Meanwhile

Tejas has Targeting Pod on sperate pod mount since 2007. Currently using LITENING III.

Tejas MK 1A will be more advanced than J-17 Thunder block 3 and with Derby beyond visual range of 100 km and Astra missile range with more than 80 km it can not only shoot down the J-17 Thunder but also J-20 fighter aircraft.:biggrin2::bounce::india:
