India's indigenous industries already makes far more products than Pakistan likely ever will.
Comparing India with Pakistan, quite frankly, is a disgrace to India. I don't like to boast but the fact is that India is miles ahead of Pakistan in every sector, whether it be poverty reduction, defense, economic growth, you name it.

We compare ourselves with China because they are the only other country in Asia with some leverage over us.

thats exactly true because the said persons was talking about pakistan and its options given its limited options in the arms market no other bird even comes close to what the f-16s you have got recently not even the so called modern chinese efforts

as far as the china production is concerned i think PAK missile technology is far ahead then india also nuclear bombs are made in PAK not in China. well if you used to ask them to make it for you that actually works that's another case?? the development and manufacturing is both done in China ask them to make satellite for you who stays in its own orbit not to become the garbage of the space. Three wars waged by Pakistan to occupy kashmir but Kashmir still hosts Tri Color one war started by us to chop Pakistan and we know one nation on face of earth is Bangladesh.

So you make something on your own? Or you are jumping because your country just started doing what HAL is doing since 50s when it started licence building Gnat fighters. Let us be clear about Pakistan fighting terrorists.

Condoms maybe embarrassing to Pakistan's cloistered society. It is not so here. It is only taken as a mode to avoid unwanted births and adding to the population and also a way to control AIDS. China and Pakistan Push Chengdu JF-17 Fighter for Export

In the same week that the Chengdu JF-17 Thunder combat aircraft made its international debut at the Farnborough airshow, the product of this co-development between China and Pakistan was offered to Indonesia. The Pakistan Defence Minister signed a defense cooperation agreement with his Indonesian counterpart in Jakarta. The list of countries that the Sino-Pakistan joint venture is targeting for sales is expanding fast: it reportedly also includes Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Congo, Egypt, Iran, Nigeria, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Turkey, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

At Farnborough, joint-venture partners Catic and PAC described the JF-17 as a multi-role light fighter with an "outstanding performance-to-cost ratio." The two aircraft on display were ferried to Farnborough but did not fly during the show, and officials were reluctant to allow journalists into the cockpit to view the three multifunction displays plus head-up display, HOTAS (hands on throttle and stick) and other avionics. The aircraft were shown with PL-5II IR-guided air-to-air missiles on wingtip rails and ferry tanks on the centerline and inner wing stations, leaving the outer wing stations unloaded. Mockups of five Chinese stores were displayed next to the aircraft: a C802A anti-ship missile; an SD-10A active radar-guided air-to-air missile; an LS-6 glide bomb; a WMD-7 targeting pod; and a KG300G electronic warfare pod.

Program officials said that a development JF-17 is now flying in China with a Chinese-developed engine, presumably the WS-13 Taishan. All other JF-17s are powered by the Russian-supplied RD-93 turbofan. On the eve of Farnborough, a Russian newspaper reported the opposition of Sukhoi and MiG director-general Mikhail Pogosian to a further sale of RD-93s to China because the JF-17 is competing with the MiG-29 for export sales. At the show, however, Russian officials, including Pogosian, played down this concern.

The plans for export must thrill the Russians to sell an engine for 4 million so it could placed in a airframe and resold by the Chinese for 35 million, this will never happen Russians will never allow one plane to be exported they will not risk losing their warplane market. In addition, both new and regular domestic exhibitors have shown greater interest in participation. The overseas sales also see growth, featured by early and increased orders from the regular international exhibitors. By now, nearly all regular exhibitors have signed up with Airshow China 2010, including Russian Technologies State Corporation, ROSCOSMOS(IASP), Gifas, Safran, AgustaWestland, Diamond Aircraft, Kulite Sensor China Inc., Tyco Electronics, Parker Aerospace that have booked bigger stands. The overseas aircraft participation is also encouraging. The first home assembled A320 of Airbus, Lineage 1000 and Legacy 600 of Embraer, AW109 of AgustaWestland, Citation Mustang and Grand Caravan of Cessna, have confirmed their presence at Airshow China 2010. Other leading aircraft manufactures such as Bombardier, Gulfstream, Hawker Beech, Dassault Falcon and Cessana are also expected to display their main models. Besides, the organizer of Airshow China is trying to bring in world famous aircraft like A380 and Su-35.
The eye-catching aircraft display is also featured by a large variety of helicopters. Eurocopter¡¯s EC225, Sikorsky¡¯s S-76, a 12 seat all weather civil transport helicopter and the latest heavy duty S-92, joined by homemade Z-8, Z-9, and AC-313, the biggest helicopter ever made by China, will be among those present at Airshow China 2010.

In another development, the Pakistan Air Force aerobatic team ¡®Sherdil¡¯ is set to stage thrilling maneuvers at Airshow China 2010 in the format of 4 K-8 trainers-an advanced military aircraft jointly developed by China and Pakistan. The ¡®August 1st¡¯ aerobatic team of the Chinese Air Force, newly equipped with J-10 fighters, will demonstrate a 6 aircraft formation on the sky of Zhuhai that brings the audiences a completely new visual impact.

The professional scenario of Airshow China 2010 is to be highlighted by a larger variety of high-profile conferences and forums. By joining hands with the Business Conventions International (BCI), a France based events & meetings specialist, Airshow China 2010 launches the first Airshow China B to B Meetings in an effort to provide a one-to-one meeting platform for vendors and buyers from global aviation industries and promote business exchanges and cooperation among the show¡¯s exhibitors. In the past there have been many fighters that are not meant for the specific roles but have met with astounding success courtesy the pilots that fly it. Now due to broken economy, the clocking hours of PAF pilots must be very less as compared to what we clock on IAF (around 300 hours I have heard). But during the cold war days when US used to take care of all Pakistani needs of defence, PAF pilots were seriously skilled and never hesitated. I must say, they have some records against us and Israelis that are definitely worth a look and therefore I will never underestimate them.

They're strong contenders in terms of training and know F-16s in and out, only second to Israelis. It would take considerable time for our fighter pilots to gain a serious qualitative edge over them and Chinese in an Israeli fashion since till now due to our corrupt defence leaders, we've lacked trainers at all levels. IAF cadets have been made to go from Deepak to Kiran to MiGs directly causing a lot of crashes that is embarrassing.

However, in future we definitely tend to have air superiority over mainland Asia with the Hawks, Sitaras and the imported and domestic basic trainers that HAL promised to deliver by 2014-15. As a relative of special forces commandos, I would say never underestimate our enemy. We might have fancier gadgets than Pakistanis, but Pakistanis have a strong will and are not limited to self-imposed weak restrictions unlike our highly politicized government.

What is contribution of the Pakistanis in JF-17 production?. As far as I remember, right from prototypes, engine testing, weapon testing& integration, avionics, radar etc are all done by China. I haven't read one article where Pakistan has contributed even a small nut or bolt for JF-17. Though they cite JF-17 as being cheap, installation of western avionics will make it expensive at least by 15-20 million. So, there is no real advantage of it being a cheaper air craft when people can get a more capable LCA or Gripen in the future.
