JF17 new holographic HUD,can anyone provide what advantages it provide over the older hud(comparison)View attachment 45344 View attachment 45345
It will provide wide area of tactical view but hence u have better HMD I don't know what it will bring to table, it consumes marginal area from front dash area of cock pit, may be it was there to minimize some avionics duplication or they just copy pasted j10c avionics pakacge

The system may be derived but since internal space of j10 and jf17 are different, copying of avionics package is foolish to consider....

I'm afraid that following might be more possible.
-----------------
1. the NRIET KLJ-7A for Block3---this is a very reasonable choice but it's not air cooled...

2. and an air cooled AESA radar is considered for the upgrade option of block2 standard planes. the AVIC's LKF601E is more possible.

------------------
JF-17 Block3 did share a lot tech with J-10B/C...if you want to have some imagination about Block3's cockpit layout, the J10C's might be the best reference

and the HMD of J10C

Block 2 upgrades are 10-15 years away. Why is radar selection happening now?

as I said it's just an offered option ... not only for upgrade but also for the new Block2 standard plane buyer....

the SBP(8 jets) is the first batch recieved by PAF in 2006 and 2008 and they are also the first to be overhauled and upgraded after around 10 years service. the Block1 SP batch production began in 2009...if the fund is avaiable , the option is right here....

What is the concept of the "air-cooled",will they be flying without the radome.....
2pic of your air cooled radar is a CGI with inaccuracies, kindly post like the one you have above.. .

They can funnel some airflow through the nose cone. It won't provide nearly enough cooling and will increase drag. It will have to run on reduced power or it will overheat. It should have been dropped into the trash bin but is needed for PR purposes.

Reduced power also has higher side lobes,so all these Pakis thumping of range 170km,it won't be any greater than what it is already on KLJ7 but with other aesa advantages....Air cooling in first place for a fighter type Radar itself suggests that chini are taking care of Pakis with a lollypop.

Can single R-33 provide enough power for these types of junk?
I dunno efficiency of Chinese radars but most of them are powered by Bigger more powerful engines.

It will be similar in range to Grifo radar with the advantages of AESA. It would be wiser to leave KLJ7 with greater range than trading off for AESA LPI with reduced range.

I think they can also use air from jet engine lp compressors.

Typo i was talking about RD-33 engine. Which produce only 81.kn whereas all other Chinese aircraft are 120+KN engine's.
R33 can't provide enough power to cool an aesa properly . That's why all this air cooled bullshit:bs:

J10 is powered by 120kn engine but j10 is much more heavy too. Yet it can theoretically support aesa. Good thing is Chinese aesa tech is nothing much to write about . Paki awacs brought from china are gathering dust.

FYI F35 doesn’t need and don’t have HUD
JHMCS is the future

The air cooled aesa radar have auxiliary air intake which won't affect by the air drag but it will affect the radar range from the Boucher it self they make clear statement of having range of 170 km for 5m2 RCS aircraft which highlight the inefficiency, also it will also effect their new BVR policy like employing pl15 which have effective range of 200km plus so it's guidance will be issue, also low intercept mod of aesa radar of air cooled type won't bring nothing much to table if its effective range is less than 200km ,only gud thing is the kj7a aesa radar can't be jammed that easily by normal air borne jammers becoz of active switching of scanning frequency but new wide band self protection jammer ordered for mk1a specially designed for this job , so kudos to hal ppl for selecting elta jamming pod

Active switching of frequency occurs also in a narrow band,so that also is not a solution unless you have reduced your radius of operation (range) further......

Yep that what am telling in earlier, by using air cooled radar u can achieve aesa radar on paper but in effectiveness it will be equell to their current kj7 v2 , the new radar won't need much power to operate but it also means it lacks other beneficial properties of liquid cooled radars like higher range, going a2g and a2a mode at same time etc, more or less like bk1 jf17 blunder Chinese successfully fooled Pakistan again with kj7a and block3 Camel show, remember the wild CGI of jf17 with f35 likenintakes and structure changes In The end it turns out to a extended version of jf17 bk2 b, this is the issue with pak military technology they put more in over hyping Rather than actual product
