Wrong. China never rejected it. Why would any country opt for a fighter plane of lower generation than what its airforce is operating if their is no technical and financial constrains. From the day one Jf-17 was not the requirement of chinese airforce. Initially Jf-17 was the experimental fighterplane on which China was working in order to develop more advanced ones, once the Pakistan showed interest and invested, they developed for them. But even chinese rejected that rite. Why is PAF running behind this like anything?
Don't underestimate it, may be its not an 4th generation fighterplane but still its good and according to the requirements of Pakistan airforce both technically and economically.I think JF-17 is great plane if they want to fight Talibs. In the mean time, everybody would be deep down in early 5th Gen.
Who said F-35 isn't a 5th gen?Don't underestimate it, may be its not an 4th generation fighterplane but still its good and according to the requirements of Pakistan airforce both technically and economically.
As far as operating 5th generation planes is considered, not even more than 10 countries (USA, Russia, India and other probables are France, China, UK, Germany, Japan, Italy if you don't consider JSF as truely 5th gen. fighterplane) will be operating a 5th generation fighterplanes out of total 198 countries of the whole world even after two decades. And if you consider JSF as 5th gen then may be 20 to 25 countries, that means less than 15%.
It means our LCA will be far more capable then JF17 . Bad choice by Pakistanis.Without the RDY-3 and MICA missiles, the JF-17 is nothing but a blunder. Doesn't look like PAF is ever going to get it and they have already started production with Chinese avionics and the old Grifo-S7 radars they already license assemble. The Thunder Blunder is little more capable than the F-7s they are replacing.
JF-17 was never a competition for LCA . LCA is completely in a different league despite it being in Initial operating conditions while JF-17 has been operating for couple of years. Still, there is no clarity as to what avionics, missiles, radars will go into JF-17, that's how hopeless condition it is in.It means our LCA will be far more capable then JF17 . Bad choice by Pakistanis.
