Japan casts shadow on China's bullet train ambition with India

Having lost a contract in Mexico that was supposedly in the bag, China is keeping its fingers crossed regarding a possible bullet- train deal with India along the 1,754 kilometre Delhi-Chennai high speed rail corridor.

A commentary on Thursday that appeared in the Global Times, affiliated to the Chinese communist party, apprehended that the Sino-Indian partnership in the high-speed rail domain "has not yet been well-received by the Indian public".

Besides, it observed that "Japan, which is also eyeing the market and has pledged to offer a more attractive funding scheme, is a serious rival in the sector."

I would advise against it, although Chinese stuff it at half price. Guaranteed it is not durable.

Remember that incident in Pakistani Railways, when they bought about 100 locomotives from China. On arrival in Pakistan 90% did not work. Only three or four plied on Pakistani commercial routes.

Hence asking for Chinese participation in this huge corridor is full of risk. China is still a maker of consumer goods . Their industrial capability to deliver huge durable industrial goods free of defects is still in doubt.

It is better to be with Japan than with China.

1) We cant trust China cuz and they would turn our own money against us using Pakistan or themselves.
2) Japan is more durable when it comes to nation to nation relationship as well as for quality of services and products.

. Japanese trains are of better quality and maintain higher safety measures. China has a record of a major train accidents in which several hundred people have been killed. Therefore, chances are that India will prefer Japanese bullet trains.

LOL,
My intention was better to be with Japan with qulaity of service than with China on economy of service cuz Indo-Japan relationship is more trustworthy than with doublespeak-China.

See Western media just focus on that single accident in China, but ignore those much much deadly accidents in Japan.

@CCP it's laughable In just the last 10 years you have had 8 accidents that have 200+ casualties, and over 900 injured. Probability of crashes are much higher than Japanese. More crashes=more chances of deaths. But you still claim that the Chinese trains are safer?

You need to goto 2005, then to 1991, then to the 1960s to find Japanese accidents.

Then,
How many casualties and injured in Japan in last 10 years ?

How many trains are China operating and how many trains are Japan operating?

BTW, do you have the list of Train accidents in Japan?

You do not have the list of Japan after 2005, how could you conclude " there have been no serious accidents, and very few minor accidents, when compared to China"

"December 27, 1995: Accident at Mishima Station on the Shinkansen line of JR Central: 1 passenger killed. The first fatal accident since the inauguration of the Shinkansen line in 1964."

Chin had also only one fatal accident right?
Notice that, we have much more high speed trains than Japan and operating in much faster speed.

I would not go for Chinese stuff.

They are usually substandard and shoddy.
