I've sailed over Yangtze river trice.
Traffic density is very high.

What best thing about that is China had setup manufacturing unit along the river bank and factories have their own Pier/Jetty.

Which makes cargo movement very fast.
I see , it means pick up your stuff from da sweatshops

Yeah I have read a lot of articles and watched several videos about the economic belt alongside river Yangtze we can do the same along river Ganga
River Ganga is much wider than Yangtze (in Bihar and Bengal)

Infrastructure along Yangtze river is tremendous. Industrial setup, office space, shopping complex. And what not.
Even have Ship yards.
It's a well dredge Channel
By seeing infra I actually became fan of China.
They did have worked hard for their country.
Forget China see what Bangladesh has achieved
Bangladesh has now over 200 shipbuilding companies, mostly concentrated in Dhaka, Chittagong, Narayanganj, Barisal and Khulna.
if this can happen in Bangladesh then why not in Bengal , Assam and Bihar these states just like Bangladesh are riverine too

UP, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal should come together and deregulate their labor market. The region is already connected by massive rivers. Expressways and Fast rail should be built to connect it further.

This region houses 32% of India and share a single river basin that would allow very rapid construction. Resources from Jharkhand can easily power the industries in the region.

The entire Indo-Gangetic plain can be turned into a massive assembly line, starting form Western UP and ending in the BoB.

DFC is a cool idea and will lead to growth of our nation, but if the nation want to be truly prosperous, it has bring large scale manufacturing to the Indo-Gangetic plains.

Nepal , Bangladesh , Myanmar , Thailand and Vietnam can also be included in this economic corridor being developed along river Ganga , Hooghly , Brahmaputra etc
Roads and railways are capital intensive maintenance heavy and land acquisition takes a lot of time and creates a lot of controversy on top of that Transporting freight through roads or even railways is ultra expensive in comparison to Inland Waterways
A small country like Vietnam exports more than India and they have one of the best inland waterways transportation system same with China and USA

Would be good to see the percentage of merchant navy that is with person of Bharatiya origin.

like we have whatsapp forwards of Microsoft, NASA, Fiji, etc etc

River Ganga is Gigantic it’s minimum width is 1600 metres and maximum 8000 metre Suez Canal is only 205 metres wide river Ganga can accommodate all big ships from Varanasi to Haldia its huge enough to accommodate all ships
Not all rivers are as huge as Ganga we are extremely lucky to have this huge river going deep inside our territory (1685 km ) we will see new planned townships , beautiful beaches , cruise ships , industrial clusters , shipbuilding , container manufacturing and transportation of freight alongside this river in few years it’s already happening but after 2023 it will happen at bigger scale
Varanasi and Sahibganj Multimodal terminal is complete Haldia Multimodal Terminal is also under construction , Patna and Bhagalpur jetty will be upgraded under PPP mode
mother Ganga has served as trade route for thousands of years we are going to revive it again

Jetty is structure where ship is moored.
Where was Terminal is whole of Port ie with cargo stowage facilities, back offices etc.
The newly built Haldia , Varanasi and Sahibganj terminals are very big and looks high-tech but the jetty at Patna and Kolkata are old and outdated IWAI is giving the Patna and Kolkata ports to private companies through a global tendering process to develop it as terminals
