Is it possible that they have been able to lay their hands on some engines of either P&W or GE. It is just a shot in the dark.

If you are willing to do a little internet searching, there is a way to find out. Count how many F-16 delivered to PAF, count how many F-16 crashed/shot-down, count how many in service today. If something comes up short, I believe you have an answer.

All F-16s crashes in PAF have been confirmed to be true by the US. There has been no transfer of F-16 engines to China. A Chinese inspection is possible.

Anyways, if the Lavi was indeed transferred to China, then I don't see why the Chinese will have to dissect a PAF F-16.
