I have not seen a thread on this subject.

Costa Concordia cruise ship missing now at 29, up from 16, officials said - NYPOST.com

Passengers on the doomed Costa Concordia described a terrifying scene of chaos, confusion — and shameful acts of cowardice.

"No one was giving directions, saying older people and kids should get into the boats first,'' said Karen Camacho, of Homestead, Fla.

"Instead of letting passengers get into lifeboats, the crew went in first and [was] saying not to let [passengers] in,'' she told USA Today.

Costa Concordia Capt. Francesco Schettino is charged with abandoning the sinking ship.
This is the brave, handsome Captain of the ship. Very photogenic, isn't he?

Wow just shocking, I just found about it today !

The crew should be tried for being accessories to this carnage.

Apparently the cruise line believes it is good for business to have a aging gigolo for a ship's captain...

I was under the impression that the first job of the captain is to send out an SOS and then direct women and children to the life-rafts, followed by the old, the young adults, the crew and the last man to leave the ship should be the captain himself.

If that did not happen, it's really a shoddy state of affairs.

To be fair, the Guardia Costiera is doing a good job along with some volunteer divers. But Schettino has shamed himself and his country.

The captain says he tripped and fell into the lifeboat.

Even in Afganistan dont the Italian soldiers always avoid conflict and flee if anything starts?

The Italians are on the Turkmenistan border in Herat. There isn't much going on there.

Italians are the most unfriendly and mafia type of people.

comment are from personnel account
Once a relative of mine sent some goods to Italy and the mafia held up a trade vessel at port due to lack of payment.
