early 2017 not january .. ? it means first quarter?? clever use of words.. now i am sure it will happen in feb march..:mad2::mad2:
as usual ATITHIT DEVO BHAVA.. ministry of spcae will prioritize the 80 satellite launch..

like i said ISRO dsnt want to end the year with any failures nor start the next year with any . so Sree GAnesh of jan 2017 will be done by PSLV
More than atithi devo bhava, we prefer to be atithis of other first. Even if we operationalize GSLV Mk3 this December, we will still be dependent on ESA because launch frequency of LVM3 will continue to be low.
i never thought asain pacific countries have space program.. For me they are into Tourism and beaches more than science.. Are there any good space nation ?
I hope you may have heard of UNOOS too.
International space bodies are mostly feel good organizations (not always though) which even not operate satellites.

It is known that SCE-200 would be used in LVM3 in early 2018.
umm what? SCE 200 has good 2-3 years more for development before any fligh testing happens. The most optimistic date for flight testing is 2019, if not later. GSLV's first stage will have to be changed and redesigned which itself will make necessary for ISRO to retest its vehicle again

ULV will also feature SRBs .

but as per recent news ULV will be very similar to falcon rocket of spaceX .. which doesnt uses any solid boosters..

http://m.thehindu.com/news/national/mega-launchers-for-isro-soon/article9155342.ece

We can have a bigger semicryogenic stage with clustered engines, similar to what SpaceX did using nine Merlin engines. We can then get a payload of 15 tonnes in the GTO
above is said for ULV..

i havent seen a rocket that uses clustered engine along with sold rocket as boosters(correct me if there is any).. the clustered engines itself is powerful enough to lift the vehicle without the need of any solid rockets..

this is to clear which fuel burns clean..

PROTON M -- first stage fuel -- N2O4 / UDMH - entirely--(used by us in GSLV)

falcon 9 - first stage burns- semi cryo fuel - LOX- Liquid kerosene entirely

shepard rocket - first stage burns- cryogenic fuel- LH2-LO2- entirely

so far there is no rocket powered by CH4/Lox . but the engines are under development by spacex and nasa- following is a methane engine by NASA.

methane engine-raptor by space X..

Now,it appears any liquid fuel is smokeless. But the cryogenic fuel burns cleanest. You can barely see any streak/exhaust behind rocket..

It seems that launch schedule of GSLV Mk3 D1 is rescheduled to December. Even assembly of rocket has started.:peace:
On GSLV Mark III likely to be launched in December, the ISRO Chairman said preparations were on in "full swing".
"We have started the assembly for the launch in Sriharikota. So we are working towards making it happen as early as possible and are targeting for launch by December end."
The rocket programme is crucial for ISRO as it would help the country launch satellites weighing around four tonnes.

Glad to see ISRO finally prioritized this mission & ready to take the risk at the year end.. I am sure they are very confident with the new bigger cryogenic engine.. Future of ISRO is completely based on this rocket ..
Dont know what changed their mind..whoever took this decision -Ministry of space or ISRO head. respect:india2:

which mission they delayed in order to free the GSLVs slot in december.. PAD abort??

No problem ! good luck with your launcher :) Competition is good. Ariane 6 just confirmed today , with payload up to 10,5 t.

great ! good luck for the success of ARIANE 6.. i hope it will prove itself as trustworthy as ARIENE 5 which has placed many of India's heavy com satellite in orbit..

Launching from france into geo-synch orbit is a challenge. keeping in mind that france is far away from equator..

ISRO to include more crops for forecasting
ISRO today said it plans to improve pre-harvest crop forecasting by including more major crops as part of its space based inputs for food security.
"In terms of input for food security, the current use of space-based inputs wherein pre-harvest crop forecasting is given for eight major crops, will be improved to cover more number of major crops and some minor crops also," ISRO Chairman A S Kiran Kumar said here today.
Kumar said space-based inputs would be enhanced further for suitability assessment for expanding horticulture, bringing more wasteland and fallow lands under cultivation, pest and nutrient management, post-harvest infrastructure planning and species-wise potential fishing zone advisorytowards ensuring food security.
"To support developmental targets planned through the Sustainable Development Goals, ISRO has worked out a vision, strategy and action plans," he said.
In the coming years, the programme is set to emphasise on risk reduction by improving the early warning of disasters and real-time advisories to mitigate the risks, he said.
Large-scale densification of in-situ weather monitoring systems such as Doppler Weather Radars, Automatic Weather Stations and wind profilers would supplement satellite based observations, in future, he said.
Referring to tele-medicine and tele-education, Kumar said that besides ensuring continuity of data and services for such operational applications, a strategy has been drawn to augment the space systems through development of newer instruments.
"It is also planned to strengthen applications through development of advanced models, algorithms, techniques to meet the evolving needs in these priority areas," he said.
He was speaking at the Kerala State meet on "Promoting Space Technology based Tools and Applications for Governance and Development.
Referring to ISRO's activities, he said it had completed 36 missions in a row, which proved the high-dependability of PSLV for a wide variety of space launches.
"Similarly, the GSLV with our indigenous cryostage has performed well in recent flights and we will continue to serve the nation," he said.
Kumar said ISRO had recently also carried out some technology demonstrations like RLV-TD (Reusable launch vehicle) and Scramjet to reduce cost of access to space.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan launched the geospatial gateway of ISRO, 'Bhuvan' dedicated portal for Kerala at the function.
