Geo-imaging satellite “EOS-03” is scheduled for launch in third quarter of 2021-Dr Jitendra Singh

Geo-imaging satellite will help in near-real time monitoring of natural disasters like floods & cyclones

“EOS-03” would also enable monitoring of water bodies, crops, vegetation condition, forest cover changes etc.

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Science & Technology; Minister of State (Independent Charge) Earth Sciences; MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said thatGeo-imaging satellite“EOS-03”is scheduled for launch in third quarter of 2021 that would enable near-real time monitoring of natural disasters like floods & cyclones. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today, he said, ISRO realized EOS-03 is capable of imaging the whole country 4-5 times daily. In addition to natural disasters, EOS-03 would also enable monitoring of water bodies, crops, vegetation condition, forest cover changes etc.

The first developmental flight of Small Satellite Launch Vehicle or SSLV is scheduled in the fourth quarter of 2021 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.ISRO’s vast experience in Solid propulsion and heritage of proven design practices has enabled SSLV to be developed as a cost-effective, three stage, all-solid launch vehicle with a payload capability of 500 kg to 500 km planar orbit or 300 kg to Sun Synchronous Polar Orbit. SSLV is ideal for on-demand, quick turn-around launch of small satellites. The major technologies developed as part of realization of SSLV are flexible nozzle control with electro-mechanical actuators for all stages, miniaturized avionics and a velocity trimming module in the upper stage for precise satellite injection.

^ Somewhat good news for GISAT-1 , 3rd quarter means before the end of September.
Last time they said it will be 12 august or something. 🙄 ISRO really needs to start doing soul searching, rocket launch is something they have been doing since forever.

ISRO to take cooperation with European, Israeli space agencies to higher orbit

IBEF: August 02, 2021

The Indian Space Research Organisation is in talks with European and Israeli space organisations to improve collaboration and explore possible areas of collaboration. Last week, Mr. K Sivan, Secretary of the Department of Space and Chairman of ISRO, conducted virtual discussions with Mr. Avi Blasberger, Director General of the Israel Space Agency (ISA), and Mr. Josef Aschbacher, Director General of the European Space Agency (ESA).

Mr. Sivan and Mr. Blasberger discussed the status of current projects, such as collaboration on tiny satellite electric propulsion systems and the GEO-LEO (Geosynchronous Earth Orbit-Low Earth Orbit) optical connection.

They also discussed future collaboration opportunities, such as the launch of Israeli satellites from an Indian launcher and commemorating the 75th anniversary of India's independence and the 30th anniversary of India-Israel diplomatic relations with an appropriate event in 2022, according to an ISRO statement.

The state of continuing cooperative operations in earth observation, space science, satellite navigation, space situational awareness, and human space travel was assessed by Mr. Sivan and Mr. Aschbacher.

Recently, an ISRO-ESA agreement on network and operations cross-support was inked, allowing the use of ground stations to assist each other's spacecraft missions.

"They decided to create theme working groups," the Bengaluru-based space agency stated, "to examine possible prospects for working together to further strengthen ISRO-ESA collaboration."

"The collaboration between @ESA and @ISRO is a priority for me on the ESA's international agenda.

As India's space portfolio grows, more chances for collaboration between our agencies are on the horizon ", tweeted Mr. Aschbacher.

if only soviets continued their N1 moon rocket development...:frown::frown::frown::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn::yawn:

They were going no where with the N1 rocket. It was a flawed rocket since start.

With loss or Korolev, they lost the hope and expertise. He was replaced with inept leader for soviet space program.
Also the novelty of reaching to moon was also lost.
