Congrats to ISRO for the excellent SSLV-D2 mission success. All the hard work of the last 6 months, and the many changes they made, were very fruitful.

But what is highly dismaying is the delay in the GSLV Mk 2 with IRNSS-2. They are now saying only by the end of the year. And no specific mention of Aditya, the mission to the sun. What's happening there?

There should be 2 back to back successful flights of GSLV, only then they can launch NISAR early next year, so there will definitely be 2 GSLV launches this year itself, probably you must have misheard what the chairman has said

Aditya-L1 will be June/July this year.....few days back ISRO chief himself confirmed it during the Aditya-L1's VELC payload ceremony

Space Docking Experiment.
Basically, joining two spacecrafts in space to make a bigger one (principle technology for building a modular space station).

It can also be used for in orbit satellite refuelling.
For more info, we have a thread running for it.
Let's accumulate further discussion into it only.

Can anyone post all the 'firsts' in this vehicle( including the D1 mission). Three come to mind immediately-the two new solid stages in the first and third stages; the velocity trimming module, something about a novel INS guidance system... there are a few more, to be sure. A 'first' of sorts, is the launch of a non-Indian satellite( Janus) on only the second flight of a launcher, that too after the first one failed.
