Delta V for ICBMs is less than that of satellite LVs hence less weight.
True but any examples of someone actually adapting TEL for satellite launch? You can do it but it is probably not very economical or optimal, sea launch was an attempt in taht direction but goal was more commercial. TEL would be good for India if they can achieve it

totally different class 14t launch weight with 100 kg payload but could be useful as comm sats in a relay at war time apart from other aspects.

I guess the biggest win for this weeks readiness and 20% of pslv cost, critical to war time needs but we need another space port that is secured with AD systems and a bit away from coast (albeit with disadvantages). New space port is in TN, kinda makes sense in a way.
Wartime SLVs are different beasts completely due to mobility and quick reaction. DRDO DSLV (Veda missile) in case of India.
Still, remotely in terms of capability and quick preparation, we can compare SSLV to Minotaur, Start-1 and Kuiazhou.

I think quite few examples exist for icmbs converted to LV's but thats just repurpose (minotaur ad rokot being examples).....with electronics getting to exteme mniature 500kg sats may be powerful enough with decent life numbered in months vs days before....TEL base with week's readiness points towards more on military side and during war time than commercial? Can't imagine 500kg sat having decent life for commercial purpose but its possible with tech already being there....

Gaganyaan updates

Here We Go: The first abort test using the spl test vehicle (TV) as part of #Gaganyaan will see the TV launch to a height of around 11km (from sea level), while the crew module (CM) will achieve an altitude of around 15km. 1/n

The test — TV technology demonstrator-1 (#TVTD1) mission — which was tentatively planned for Aug earlier this year, is now expected to be carried out in Sept. Union minister Jitendra Singh & Isro chief S Somanath had confirmed this at a press conference earlier this month. 2/n

A senior official overseeing the mission, told me: “We’ll take the TV to around 11km approximately & from there, the CM will go up to about 15-16km and then come down. We’ll demonstrate the coming down, descent phase, parachute deployment and recovery.” 3/n

Another scientist explained that at the altitude of about 11km — the final mission profile will be made public at a later stage — the crew module will separate from the vehicle, escape from the trajectory of the vehicle, and then drop back. 4/n

“...The ground team (SHAR) will track. Once separated from the TV, CM will have a free fall. Essentially, we’ll be demonstrating the crew escape system in an in-flight abort scenario. This means navigation & guidance, control systems & parachutes will be demonstrated… 5/n

A success in this will give us the confidence to expedite a lot of other processes,” the scientist said. As I’d reported earlier, @isro has already conducted multiple parachute tests ahead of integrated air-drop tests. 6/n

The scientist added that all the packages — like avionics, telemetry and telecommand, navigation, control systems, etc — of CM are available and ready. “...We are looking at integration next month, following which there will be extensive testing before the TV-TD1,” he added. 7/n

Stating that even the test vehicle parts have come and integration will be done in the coming weeks, the scientist said: “Since most of the hardware is standardised, we do not anticipate any problems. The motors and other systems have already been tested individually.” 8/n

The four astronaut-elects, the official said, were continuing training & are expected to start simulation soon. “We’ve developed 3 types of simulators that'll help #astronaut s get familiar with the cockpit, crew module controls, mission profiles and experiences, etc… 9/n

…They will also have simulations for manual intervention if any. Aside from this, there are other simulators on the anvil depending on the progress,” the official added. 10/n

In TV-T1, @isro will intentionally cause an anomaly and allow the crew module to come out of the TV, do the tumbling manoeuvres, deploy parachutes, and land in a designated spot on the sea before being recovered. 11/n

Aside from this, there are different events such as max dynamic pressure condition, max acceleration condition, some transient condition etc, in which abort will become critical in flight. In all, Isro has realised 4 such special TVs, 2 missions of which'll happen this year. 12/n

The initial target for the second abort test was December. The scientist said: “As things stand, we should be able to achieve that. However, things may change depending on the performance during TV-TD1,” he added. n/n

Usually with these NOTAMs, the earlier limit is closer to the actual launch date, than the later one. So August 4th ( or very soon after) is more likely to be the day of launch, than say August 25th-30th. JMO

Mfs cancelled this one too.
Now new NOTAM is out from 7th till 30th. Why cancel the NOTAM if the old one covers the new one?

New one:

Slowly it will move to Aug 15, to mark the Independence day

New one:

Just check the forecast on BOB. Till 7th it is showing thunderstorm. Only after 8th we are getting few hours of clear sky.

NOTAM gets cancelled to facilitate the flyover of flights thru that area. You don't keep a commercial air space closed for no reason.

They way ISRO heading, seems chooses a different path not like other space agencies. ISRO more looking into India specific needs and make it business viable.
