Israeli PM made secret visit to Russia over Iran: report

Israel's prime minister stole away to Moscow this week to discuss Russian arms sales to arch-foes Iran and Syria, a report said today amid speculation over the premier's mysterious disappearance.

Benjamin Netanyahu flew to Moscow on Monday, the Yediot Aharonot daily said, citing anonymous sources. Asked to comment on the report, Netanyahu's office reiterated that the premier had spent Monday at the headquarters of the Mossad foreign intelligence agency. No immediate comment was available from the Russian authorities.

Netanyahu's hours-long absence from public view on Monday has sparked furious rumours in the Israeli media as to where he spent the day, with a secret visit to an Arab country topping the speculation.

Israel has for years tried to convince Russia not to sell S-300 surface-to-air missile systems to Iran, which the Jewish state fears Tehran could deploy around its controversial nuclear sites. Russia reportedly agreed to sell the systems to Tehran several years ago. Following an August 18 visit, Israeli President Shimon Peres said that he had secured a promise from his counterpart Dmitry Medvedev that Russia would review its decision.

Its now Open, I just saw an Interview of President Medyvedev on CNN, in which he said that Israeli PM did meet him, and he doesnt know why Israel kept it a secret!!!

He also talked as if Israel wont attack Iran, and that when asked if Israel Attacks Iran, would Russia help Iran, He said something similar to this.

" Russia Will not do anything, we are a Peaceful Nation, But If such an attack happens, it will not be easy to contain, and the outcome will be horrific. We cannot know how the Iranians will respond, and How the Situation in the Middle East will turn. Israel wont be the only country the Iranians will target their anger at, other countries will bear it too. So before any attack takes place, I am sure all this will be taken into consideration as there will be a Human Catastrophe"

Now the above sounds very serious to me. He is talking as if Iran is powerful enough to retaliate and things wont stay normal.

Lastly, he was asked about the S300, and he said that he has not delivered anything offensive to Iran, and that only Defensive Weapons will be delivered.

Now thats the same old answer!!!
