European diplomat based in Islamabad says Israeli strike would force Pakistan to support Iranian retaliation, while EU official says 'political and economic consequences of attack would be catastrophic for Europe'

Is the world counting down to "D-Day"? After US Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta estimated that Israel would attack Iran by June, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned government officials against "Iran chatter," A European diplomat based in Pakistan said that if Israel attacks, Islamabad will have no choice but to support any Iranian retaliation.

The diplomat's statement raised the specter of putting a nuclear-armed Pakistan at odds with Israel, which is widely believed to have its own significant nuclear arsenal.

To some, the greatest risk of an attack was to the moribund world economy. Nick Witney, former head of the EU's European Defense Agency, said "the political and economic consequences of an Israeli attack would be catastrophic for Europe" since the likely spike in the price of oil alone "could push the entire EU, including Germany, into recession."

This would be a win-win scenario for India. While Pakis are at it, supporting the Iranians and moving insurgents and troops westwards, we the Indians, with support of the Global community on our side can mount an attack on Pakis and punish them for their sins. But ofcourse, we have to factor the Chinese into this equation too, but a nice wet dream, I'm sure you would agree.

Pakistan right now is like a defensive force and the only way they can help Iran is by sending some islamic fighters there and becoming more like a middleman (they can send all sorts of supplies to Iran via China) but the question out here is will Israel really need to engage ina a full conflict with Iran??Well personnely I think they will bomb Iran's nuke sities and will go back to their country how will Pak can help them then ?? AAH the biggest WMD Pak has TERRORISTS so yes Israel should feel scared. LOL

Israel is not run by spineless turds like the ones sitting in our cabinet. If a single rocket flies out of Pakistan, they will absolutely flatten the Pukes. In a mad frenzy the Pukes may even fire a nuke at Delhi. This might be tricky for India. Hopefully our SAM's protecting NCR are effective.

Iranian interest in Pakistan goes as far as luring the failed state away from US, in the name of Islam. Also, the recent Russian lolly pops to Pakistan have started appearing at the same time as Iran courting Pakistan. Interesting isn't it ? :)

While most of you guys keep posting as to what Israel will do to Iran,my question to all of you is who is more concerned with Iran getting hold of Nukes, Is it Kingdom of Saudi Arabia or Israel? What if KSA is the one who wants to weaken the Iranian defence capabilities rather than Israel and USA? It is Iranian influence in the region that is keeping KSA and other Kingdoms awake in the night.

What will Pakistanis do if Arab Sunni alliance decide to deal with Iran directly? Will they come to their aid or piss in their pants with fear of civil unrest gaining momentum in Baluchistan?

In MHO Western nations will let those countries slip in to chaos and civil war till they come to their senses and realize that it is time follow "Live and Let LIve" philosophy with in their own boundaries and concentrate on human and economic development.

There is not much Pakis can do

If Iran becomes a US or Saudi domain, it will not be in the interests of Pakistan.

The US will have access to CAR through Iran and Pakistan will lose its strategic value that it enjoyed because of its location. There will be more incentive for the US to help disintegrate Pak and make Balochistan independent.

Whether Israel does or KSA does something there is not much Pakaistan can do

Easiest thing for KSA to do will be to allow Israeli aircraft to fly over their air space on the way to bomb Iran.

Its all just high talk for local consumption. Pakis don't have the balls to engage in war against Israel. They might send a few hundred Mujahideen or so. But thats it. Pakistan is slowly becoming a hardline wahabbi sunni state sponsored by the Saudis. I dont think they'll militarily support a Shia Iranian regime thats competing with Saudis for islamic dominance..
If pakis are so stupid as to enter into conflict, it might be a good idea for india to poke around in POK..

well, i'd stick to my comments.. Pakistan is still not a hardline country like Saudi Arabia. Its still a democracy. Sure its falling into abyss but it still hasn't hit rock bottom. Pakistan has a sizeable shia minority. Ahmediyas are already persona non grata. Pretty soon Shias too will become second class citizens and pakistan will end a wahabbi sunni state..
