Shocking if true. It's hard to draw comparisons but for Israel's population, that's the equivalent of an attack claiming 20k lives in India. I wonder if it's the wider geo political ramifications of mass casualties on civilians in Gaza or a genuine fear of an internal insurrection by the Israeli Arab fifth column (there were signs of this in 2021) that's holding the Israelis back
The concept of "Havlaga" has never worked for them, not when Ben Gurion and Mapai advocated it, and not even when Sharon himself advocated it. There was a saying in the Israeli political circles during the 60s through 80s. It went something like this, "All talks of supporting "moderate Arab opposition leaders" against the "radical Arab leaders" is a doomed project from the beginning. Even assuming such a classification exists, it ignores the very reality of "Arabness". For the Arab respects him who is the strongest, not the smartest."

Israels response today has been very basic I would say. Just a few bldgs bombed
The dust is not yet settled, there could be dozens or even hundreds of terrorists still inside Israel. There's also no confirmation if Israel is in full control of the territories that was overrun by jihadi scums today. Then there is the question of hostages. This will take time, months even, just hope that Israel pulverizes Gaza before setting foot in inside because there will be plenty of traps.

Invade Ukraine. The West may get drawn into a full fledged conflict.

Invade Israel, provoke and humiliate them in every way imaginable. The West may get drawn into a war this time for sure.

Why do I feel this script was written in the middle kingdom.

Every time there's turmoil in the world, China emerges stronger.

Happened during Covid though it didn't end well for them in the long run.

Is this China's way to weaken the West's resolve for war before it moves in to achieve its military objectives?

Wild theory I know but here is a country which has indulged in small skirmishes but cleverly avoided a conflict that could result in serious body blows. Generally tucks tail and runs when the opposition puts up a good fight.

How can such a large scale attack not be pre-empted?
Intelligence being ignored

A similar thing happened in India once in the North-East in 1966

There was intelligence of 20000 insurgents planning to attack India from former East Pakistan and even discussed in the parliament

Nobody believed the numbers

then the attack began with an estimated 13k to 17k attackers taking over Mizoram. Indian military took a week to regain control back from them

Mizo National Front uprising

Our long-term response was supporting 150k insurgents in East Pakistan, wonder what the long-term Israeli response is.

All Israelis have mandatory military duty . When it comes time to take up arms they will be familiar. Nothing like that exists for Indians. During 36/11 Indian authority did not even know what agency or who should be called police , military. Who???? Internal security and awareness by residents is good not an ignorance is bliss attitude.
israel, north nd south korea nd taiwan hv mandatory military duty coz they hv very less population...but in india case, we hv "too much" human manforce. i see army bharti in my small city in uttarakhand. u can easily get 1-2 lakh young people to join army any given time from 1 crore uttarakhand population. bihar nd UP is like blackhole, where u can raise current active military strength of 1.2 million personal easily. Today guns nd pistols etc r easy to operate. u can teach a civilian how to fire in less time. we should hv ample extra stock of guns nd pistols. so we can distribute guns to common citizen in border areas. i think our border area people should hv right to operate guns. so they hv atleast some chance to secure themself for any invasion. nd every city (X,Y,Z) hv army containment nd anti riot force with 100-500 trained personnel.

Raping/sexually assaulting women and girls is a red line.

It should be a no holds barred from here on.

This is as medieval as it can get.
Invasion should be a red line in of itself, period. It's natural why people are more volatile after seeing the attacks against women, but let's not pretend that torturing, mutilating and killing male soldiers and civilians is any less barbaric of a crime.

You are giving too much credit to chinese, they don't have the balls to play hard power game. This is mostly US game or interior sabotage in Israel itself...mossad itself. Palestinians are chootiyas that will come out with less out of this. No way they can hold on to any of the shit they walked into....hostages are not going to end well with perhaps some rescues.

Absolutely, and Arab Israel normalization is finished, if Israel, achieves anything less than a complete rout of Hamas.. Because, for all their public condemnation, the Arab leaders will prefer the situation where Israel b*ngs Hamas so hard that it can neither s*t nor sh*t.. If anything like 2006 Lebanon war is the end, then, Israel and Unkil Sam can say bye bye to any Arab Israel normalization, and India Arab Israel Corridor will be still born
