The concept of "Havlaga" has never worked for them, not when Ben Gurion and Mapai advocated it, and not even when Sharon himself advocated it. There was a saying in the Israeli political circles during the 60s through 80s. It went something like this, "All talks of supporting "moderate Arab opposition leaders" against the "radical Arab leaders" is a doomed project from the beginning. Even assuming such a classification exists, it ignores the very reality of "Arabness". For the Arab respects him who is the strongest, not the smartest."Shocking if true. It's hard to draw comparisons but for Israel's population, that's the equivalent of an attack claiming 20k lives in India. I wonder if it's the wider geo political ramifications of mass casualties on civilians in Gaza or a genuine fear of an internal insurrection by the Israeli Arab fifth column (there were signs of this in 2021) that's holding the Israelis back
