When one looks at it , the sublime state of Iran or The Guarded domains of Iran encompassed today's , Azerbaijan ( that's why they are Shias , the safavid Dynasty was a azeri Turk Dynasty with Shia Islam as it's official mazhab , they turned previously majority Sunni iran into a beacon of Shia Islam , through sheer force and blood .)
, Armenia ( many times in control of the Persians , actually most of the time
The safavids fought Ottomans over Armenia , the sassanids fought the byzantines and Roman empire also over the control of Armenia , the Iranian princes went to worship in them large fire temples there)
Then dagestan, lost to russian Empire, but it literally has a sassanid era fort of derbent.
Then iran once had todays island's of arbian peninsula like baharain etc , then Persian iraq ( basically eastern Mesopotamia , they even called themselves iraq e ajami or Persian iraq and the south and Central iraq as iraq e Arab , there were two iraqs ), then today's western afganistan was wholly part of iran till two centuries back.
All these were called as Guarded domains of Iran , alas the Iranians couldn't guard these perfectly.

You didn't mention Central Asia right from Turkmenistan to Uzbekistan to Tajikistan to Xinjiang which was peopled by Iranic speaking tribes before they were displaced / subjugated by the Turkics over a span of a millenium & a half .

While culturally Persian once upon a time these Turkic tribes also shared a common language ( apart from their native tongue ) to & religion with Iran / Persia namely Sunni Islam & the Persian language .
