Throughout their existence Congress has been unwavering in its support for radical leftists and islamists, it is only the divided, delusional, easily corruptible hindus who have kept them in power. Remember, it wasn't until 1992 that India established full diplomatic relationship with Israel despite both nations born on the same year. Modi was the first ever Indian PM to visit Israel despite almost 70 yrs of formal and informal relationship between the two nations until that time. Congress' every move and every action has always been to pacify and win over the islamists.
Token Hinduism like prarthna sabhas organized by Gandhi to sing his version of Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram , Patit paavan Sita Ram, Ishwar Allah tero naam , Sab ko panauti de bhagwan (Achhe bhale bhajan ki maa xxodh di ), prabhat pheris ,etc .
There was a RW within the Congress which insisted on anti cow slaughter legislation right from before independence , campaign for the Hindi language / opposition to Urdu being recognised as the state language which continued post independence along with other demands like the UCC etc which found its way into the Directive Principles of the constitution instead of the constitution proper during the debates of the CA in spite of their best efforts among other such tidbits . But under Gandhi & Nehru they were first rate muslim appeasers which continued with gusto during IGs reign & later .
Surprisingly Nehru though accommodative of his favourite community didn't go out of his way to court them for electoral purposes. He didn't need to either as he didn't face an organised opposition for obvious reasons.
That started during his daughter's time when traditional votebanks of the Congress started deserting the party best seen in the 1967 state elections IIRC in North India where breakaway factions of the Congress principally led by the intermediate castes who were socially & educationally forward like the Jats formed new parties with other intermediate underprivileged castes & in coalitions with parties like the Swatantra Party , the Socialists under Lohia & Acharya Narendra Dev & the Jan Sangh along with other smaller regional outfits & managed to form the government in a few states like Charan Singh in UP.
Moreover as her differences with the old guard in the Congress widened with her battling the syndicate , she needed all the help she could get , hence overtures to the SCs , STs & Muslims . This trend continued till 1989 when the Congress finally lost power for good in unified UP , Bihar , Odisha & Gujarat. TN & WB were lost in the 60's & 70's respectively.
