Iranians? I know that many Parsis and Iranis live there but I don't think there are many expats from Iran here. Are you speaking as per personal experience or are you referring to a source?

There are lots of them, In Mysore too. Most of them come for studies. Mysore uni has loads of Iranis studying there. Atleast they were when I was studying there. But I do see them regularly on streets and in malls. Very easy to identify them.

As for Iranians, Bangalore has been a destination for low income Iranian students since late 70s. Many fled Iran after the revolution and continued their studies in Bangalore, since then Bangalore and Pune have been attractive to those Iranian students who cannot emigrate to Canada, US or European countries.

Except Kerala abnd TN, they never learn or speak local language in South from what I have seen....southern states have the worst hindu awareness overall outside few pockets. Rural gets converted and governments pamper to no ends....ofcourse BJP had its chances in Karnatake few times and blew it totally. So let it be....BJP has a dual personality outside hindi belt, Manipur is recent example, karnatak and Rajasthan another....

Having a conversation with Southerners, most of them have huge indifference and totally leftist brains and ofcourse not all....compare that to Indore, Nagpur, Surat and so on. Hyderabad recent example is a proof..

You're right about the Iranian students bit though all the Muslims I've encountered from K'taka speak dakkani urdu, almost just like the Hyderabadi ones do.

Depends on the region, in central and southern KA they speak deccan urdu, in coastal KA it is either nawaithy or beary, in northern KA it is a mish-mash of urdu laced with kannada or marathi. In any case despite all of them and their ancestors being native to the land, they will never speak the native language and go to lengths to speak a heavily accented Kannada or English to prove their imaginary connection to a far off land.
