Palestinians (PLO) in Jordan were a pain in the ass , and the Jordanian King kept on ignoring the threat and the military was annoyed of them. Shit went so bad that once when the king was on a visit to a military camp he saw a solder flying a bra as a flag on their tank, he was furious and when questioned the solder said that they felt like women as the king was not letting them to strike back against the PLO .
This somehow shook the king out of his slumber and he ordered an offensive against the PLO. The Jordanian military went berserk.
They went as far as shelling Palestine settlements , many of them crossed over to the jew side to rot in their prison instead to dying in the hands of the Jordanian military ..

Yeah, US will never abandon Israel. That is a constant between the Republicans and Democrats: both of them support Israel no matter the US interests.

Israel is actually useful for the US empire on a net basis if they play their cards right (which they usually don't in recent decades) unlike Ukraine which is a vast net drain in terms of political and financial capital. Ukraine is already draining a lot more than it is giving backa nd it is not going to return more on investment since they have lost a lot of their offensive potential since the start of the war.

So the US would love to pivot to any topic other than the ukraine war now and anything would do. So the Israel conflict issue is a perfect case where they can silence any opposition immediately and unlike Ukraine, there is a lot more institutional and cultural support that is deep and time tested and old. This is perfect for pivoting and trying to make people forget about the Ukraine war. it is the best they have till now at the moment.

Also like I said, Israel is useful as an ally to station US forces in the region as a ready lookout in the area. Does not need to be supported for basic things and only requires intermittent aid which also has the possibility of being repaid.
