Not sure if most Kurds think like this, but definitely quite a few. They've had a lot influence from atheist ideologies like communism (as bad as the ideology is) and even in general you can see their women being pretty free. I remember reading one article during the height of ISIS attacks on the Yazidis, that when the Kurdish commander reached the yazidi village after defeating ISIS, felt sad seeing the dead Yazidis and started wondering about role of Islam and all that and says something like- "these were true people of this land. We (kurds) were converted by force but these guys refused." It was pretty eye-opening for me.
