UAE & Saudi basically want to do to industrial goods, what they've done for people ( in terms of making money): be the transit hub of Asia to Europe travel. Ever wonder why Emirates, Qatar Airways, etc. rose meteorically and still are one of the best, if not the best services through and through ( as in, all classes of travel) ? well, it sits bang in middle of Europe & Asia- densely populated, with high GDP and high rate of human travel.
They then added N.America to the mix. Saudi is waking up to this new 'money' scheme ( and it IS quite lucrative) too.
