If you define Assad survival as a loss .. that's a pretty high bar.. US controls a good portion of Syria..and its oil revenues.. It's a stalemate..

US won Gulf War one - Destroyed Iraqi military potential, and kicked out Iraqi Army out of Kuwait.
Gulf war 2 - Victorius invasion.. Failed occupation..
Afghan war - Victorious invasion, failed occupation..

Unkil Sam very good at Conventional war.. But, lacks Stamina for costly occupation..

Was the entire fucking army in Holidays? How complacent IDF and Mossad has become. I guess the Gen Z jews truly let Israel down.

I was talking to a Israeli girl. Apparently Saturday is the rest day for Jews and it consists of total abstentation from technology. According to her, most of IDF was on leave back home and the rest couldn't contact higher ups because... They were unreachable due to them being religious and abstaining from technology. Even assembling a response team took time because no one could contact each other. The kibbutz spread across the frontiers couldn't raise alarms because they're essentially hyperreligious community so they were maintaining strict no work/tech and no one was listening on the other side.

Isreal situation is very bad, not because the enemies have superior tech. The demography is very hard for them to keep control over the territory.

Afghanistan ( a pipeline war)was a war without any clear direction (osama bin laden?) goal
of revitalizing military industrial complex achieved US became a hyperpower
Syria -A pipeline war through Syria to Europe. Russia got involved to prevent their
oil business to europe getting hurt
Yemen - USA's big oil/ petrodollar partner and arms importer

As you see there is a common thread thru all these wars OIL. Iran is an oil rich'country so I don't understand why USA would not be interested in a war with Iran?

because Iran is 100 times harder to conquer & invade than any west asian country. This is reflected in iranian history - it hasnt been invaded successfully very often in the past. IIRC, its happened only 5 times in history that the heartland of Iran has been conquered by a foreigner.
the geography of Iran is simply too difficult and all of those invaders paid their due price in blood- a price murrica is unwilling to pay.

Americans will never agree. Also the real opponent is Iran here. It will turn into full-fledged war in coming days.

They are waiting for Israel to make a move on Gaza. Then lebs and syrians will open the front. May be that's the reason why US is directly involving and doing the rescue operations on their own.
