It's bewildering that Mossad and CIA, the two best intel agencies can screw up this bad. Almost feels like they let this happen by taking ~1000 casualties so that Israel can split open and raze Gaza to the ground and wipe out Hamas once and for all

In one of the videos, a palestinian raider fired an ak from his hip/abdomen level and took out an Israeli trooper peeping from a corner. That was by no means an easy shot. AK or AR, end of the day it is the man and his familiarity with the weapon and the confidence of using it as an extension of your body arises from the weapons reliability.

Haven't heard of too many issues with a well made AK that's maintained well.

Internally adequate, externally not so much.

not at the level Israel faced for obvious reasons but we have faced attacks with similar strategies.

Our borders with pakistan are heavily monitored and not that easy to cross into, which makes the scale of tragedy much less.
Internally though, a thousand home grown jihadis, well equipped can cause havoc, especially if they plan in multiple cities at the same time.
That is the worst case scenario for us.
