There are very few direct comparisons to the Israel-Palestine situation. High population neighbourhoods very close to each other. So the infiltration needs to be only a few kilometers deep to have an outsized effect on casualties. I'm not commenting on any intelligence failure but the Israeli Palestine situation is a very difficult one, no real comparison to other countries.

Controversial take but in my opinion, if you think the outrage generated by the martyring of male soldiers generated massive outrage during, say Pulwama, for example, the killing/desecration of a woman's remains, will generate 100x more outrage. That could get even more people to hold the government (or more specificially, the top brass gernails) accountable for still using shitty '90s era equipment and make grounds on the safety of soldiers (something that the IA has taken for granted, since our strategy very often has just been using soldiers as a meat shield) and have a far harsher stance. I can't think of anything else that can wake up the top brass.

During Pathankot a fucking IAF airbase was overrun which had garud SF ,drones ,attack helicopters on their disposal . At the end they were flushed out by NSG after many hours and casualties .
