The Islamic State group is increasing its presence in Pakistan, recruiting Uzbek militants, attracting disgruntled Taliban fighters and partnering with one of Pakistan's most violent sectarian groups, according to police officers, Taliban officials and analysts.

Its latest atrocity was an attack Saturday on a Sufi shrine in southwestern Pakistan that killed at least 50 people and wounded 100 others. The group said in a statement that a suicide bomber attacked the shrine with the intent of killing Shiite Muslims and issued a picture of the attacker.

When IS circulated a photograph of one of the attackers in last month's deadly assault on a police academy in southwestern Baluchistan province, two Taliban officials told The Associated Press that the attacker was an Uzbek, most likely a member of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. More than 60 people, most of them police recruits, were killed in that Oct. 26 attack when three assailants battled security forces for hours before being killed or detonating their suicide vests.

The Taliban officials, both of whom are familiar with the IMU, spoke on condition of anonymity because their leadership has banned them from talking to the media.

Authorities initially said the police academy attack was orchestrated by militants hiding out in Afghanistan and blamed Pakistan's virulently anti-Shiite group, Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. But IS later claimed responsibility and Lashkar-e-Jhangvi spokesman Ali Bin Sufyan said they partnered with IS to carry out the assault.

In Afghanistan and Pakistan, the extremist group has adopted the name the Islamic State in Khorasan — a reference to an ancient geographical region that encompassed a vast swath of territory stretching from Turkmenistan through Iran and Afghanistan.

IS in Khorasan has set up its base in Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province, and while it has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq, it remains unclear whether there are direct operational or financial links between the two.

According to police, Afghan officials and IS media outlets, the majority of Islamic State fighters in Afghanistan are Pakistani nationals, mostly from the tribal regions. Disgruntled Taliban fighters from Pakistan and Afghanistan have joined along with foreign fighters, mainly from central Asia. The group's leader until his death in July in a drone strike was Hafiz Saeed Khan, a former Pakistani Taliban commander. IS has never acknowledged Khan's death, which was confirmed by both the Afghan and U.S. militaries.

Counter terrorism officials in Pakistan say that IS has begun reaching out to local militants through its rich social media presence.

"They are inspiring the like-minded youth in Pakistan through their strong social media propaganda," said Junaid Sheikh, a senior counterterrorism commander in the southern city of Karachi.

"There is evidence that militants of other organizations like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, Al-Qaeda in the Subcontinent and other Sunni extremist organizations switched their ideology toward Daesh and acted like their activists," he said, using an Arabic acronym for IS. The recruitment of Uzbek militants is particularly worrisome and a "significant threat to our national security," he added.

He said Uzbek fighters have carried out numerous major attacks in Pakistan, including a 2011 attack on a naval base and a 2014 attack on the Karachi Airport. Local militant groups provided the intelligence to carry out the attacks, he said.

A resident of Afghanistan's Nangarhar province who did not want to be identified for fear of retribution said he spoke with two Iranian Islamic State members late last year. Unlike the Pakistani and Afghan insurgents, the resident, who fled to Pakistan after his home was overrun by IS fighters, said the foreign fighters were friendly and engaged with local residents. One Iranian fighter said he was recruited for his computer skills, the resident said.

Previously, Uzbek insurgents normally allied with the Pakistani and Afghan branches of the Taliban, having sworn allegiance to Taliban founder Mullah Mohammed Omar. However, many Uzbek fighters split from the Taliban and declared allegiance to IS last year after it was revealed that Taliban officials had hidden the fact that Mullah Omar had died two years earlier.

A senior police official in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province, where several militant groups are headquartered, said the IS group is firmly entrenched in Pakistan and its roots are growing stronger as it aligns with Pakistan's Sunni Muslim extremist groups like Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. The police official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak to the media. The official also said that Lashkar-e-Jhangvi had largely relocated from Punjab to Baluchistan province in the face of a major military campaign.

"Pakistani Taliban factions that have sparred with the parent Pakistani Taliban have tended to express public support for ISIS," said Michael Kugelman, senior associate for South Asia at the U.S.-based Wilson Center. "I could certainly envision collusions materializing between disaffected Pakistani Taliban fighters now aligned with ISIS, and Uzbek militants with preexisting ties to the Pakistani Taliban. Either way, at the end of the day, all of these terrorists are cut from the same cloth ideologically and so we should never rule out operational partnerships."

The title and actual article are saying two different things...

Virtually all of the ISIS fighters in PK are foreigners; either Afghans or Central Asians. Only ones that are recruited from within Pakistan are members of TTP.

They're being hunted to extinction and the military has enacted such a plan that they won't ever be able to breed in Pakistan ever gain.

If this news is coming from some army source that they are hunting them .. then it is worth less.. Similarway as your army is hiding deaths of your soldier.

Similar ways, they way you fool by saying Pakistan won 1971 war, and 1965 and Pakistan administers the J&K to your people. And the biggest lie is Zarb e Azb is a success...

Zarb e Azb has become.. Zarb e Dust e Gazab for Pakis.

Utter gibberish and shaky factual are presented by your army.

I wish I could meet that theif ISPR DG Bajwa and usski itney chupari bajau so that he has to change his caste. Useless fellow..

This article surely would have bothered me (Zulfiqar!!), had I been a Pakistani (Fortunately I am not)....

This article has very deep underlying message, though it's already late, but still if unable to read, forthcoming blasts are going to be more deafening and lethal...

1. Good Taliban and Bad Taliban Policy of Pakistan Army and leaders

This picture worth a million for any sane Pakistani
These are the same people who are radicalizing young kids and depriving them of modern education. They are being provided aid in millions by your leaders like Imran Khan to run their madarsas

2. Foreign nationals like Turks and Uzbeks have least botheration for Pakistan and killing it's citizens and they are being hired by intellectuals above

3. After Rebels and UN Forces tightening it's grip on Syria and Iraq ISIS is trying to find it's foothold in other countries and Pakistan is their first choice because above sitting think tank are dying to get Shariah law in Pakistan. They sure want more fighters and like minded organizations to support them and Taliban in Pakistan and Afghanistan provide them best breeding grounds for their devil plan..

4. Pakistan government being subservient Pak army, weak and fragile democracy people calling for Marshall law once more and Pakistan army's agenda of self portraying as Superhero for the sake of their survival they will never let Pakistani people come out of this terror regime completely. They will always want to be in the driving seat to get larger chunk of their budget.

5. Pakistan Army's hypocritical nature towards locals of FATA and Balochistan has disgruntled Taliban faction who knows Pakistan pick and chose locals are ready to bond with ISIS and they will ultimately demand FATA and Balochistan as separate territory to be run as ISIS fort

6. Sectarian Violence, Killing of Ahmadis, Shia Sunni Dissent will further help ISIS to root it's footing in Pakistani

Another Article Pakistani People should worry with
http://defencenews.in/article/Pakistan-security-forces-killed-four-Baloch-in-fake-encounters-39181

Pakistani security forces recently handed over four bodies, including that of a 14-year-old boy, to the District Headquarter Hospital at Gwadar. A press release issued in Brussels by the Baloch Human Rights Organisation (BHRO) claimed that the security forces had eliminated the four persons in a fake joint operation in the Belar and Kulanch areas of Gwadar district. The BHRO also claimed that one person had also been arrested, and added that the four persons killed had been missing for months and years.

The dead bodies were identified on the basis of their national identity card (NIC), student card and chits with their names found in their pockets. One of the victims was identified as 14-year-old Zafar Baloch, the son of Master Abdul Rahman. He was a resident of Jan Mohammad Bazar Dasht in District Kech. His parents had migrated to Gwadar to take the education of their children forward, and Zafar had been reported missing since August 13, 2016.

The second victim was identified as Salahuddin, the son of Abdul Samad. He was a resident of Mashkay and had been missing for the last 19 months. The BHRO claimed that he had been abducted by the security forces on March 25, 2015 from Quetta. The third victim was identified as Sajid Ali, the son of Kareem Bakhsh. He was a resident of Ward Number 4, Pasni, and was abducted from his home on January 31, 2016.

The fourth was identified as Sabir Ali, the son of Mohammed, who had been missing since August 4, 2014. There was no information provided on the person arrested. The BHRO said that in October 2016, it had received reports of more than 210 enforced disappearances and 57 persons being reportedly killed in different incidents by Pakistan’s security forces.

IF I AM NOT GETTING WRONG ...
India would be targeting Sindh to be annexed to India to complete our national anthem
ISIS would be trying to cut Balochistan and FATA from Pakistan

Pakistan would be left no more than a piece of Land of Punjab for Pakistani Army generals to rule and

KPK would then try to go to Afghanistan

Check this out

http://www.defencenews.in/article/A...and-helicopters-to-cut-Pakistan-in-half-39193

India-Pakistan relations are bedeviled by religion as the basis of Pakistan was the two nation theory which stated that Hindus and Muslims were separate countries and could not live together. The two nation theory collapsed with the creation of Bangladesh after the breakup of Pakistan. Bangladesh was also Muslim, but it thought to be better off away from Pakistan. The state of Pakistan failed to recognize the collapse of the two nation theory and continued a terror war against " Hindu " India. At one time it became an ally of the USA, but now the USA is wary of it.

Military Exercise ::

India and.Pakistan fought a war over Kargil in 1998 and Pakistan suffered a defeat. A ceasefire was brought about by Clinton, but Pakistan could not reconcile to it. It continued its policy of bleeding India with 100 cuts.With rising terror attacks in Kashmir and Indian cities the Indian army and air force have conducted a massive air-army exercise on the Pakistan border in Rajasthan close to the Indian town of Jaisalmer. The #military exercise simulated battle conditions as a strike corps of the Indian army with battle tanks and helicopters carried out the exercise. The desert sands give an idea that in the next war India may well thrust into Sind, which is a restive province of Pakistan. The news of the exercise was reported by Times news channel in its prime time TV broadcast.

Pakistan racked by dissension ::

Pakistan had also carried out a similar exercise a month back, but the country is faced with internal dissension and terror attack by the Sunni outfits ISIS and the Jaish-e-Mohammad.These Sunni outfits want to set up a regime based on the Sharia and routinely commit terror attacks. Yesterday the ISIS attacked a Sufi shrine in Baluchistan revered by Shia Muslims, and 59 were killed.There is also a low-intensity conflict on in Baluchistan against the Pakistan state for independence.

Last word ::

The US was the ally of Pakistan for five decades but with Pakistan becoming a terror center the relationship has cooled and the Americans for strategic reasons have chosen India as their partner. India and the USA have just finished a joint exercise in Ladakh. The present exercise was to test the response of a combined army- helicopter invasion of Sindh with battle tanks striking deep. With Donald Trump becoming President he will soon have to face the situation in SE Asia.
