Navy is currently leagues ahead of both IAF and IA. All IAF has to show right now is the 19 crashes in last 19 months.
Indian Army: is perhaps the worst lagging behind both IAF and IN. Dire shortage of officers, low morale, poor protective gear, poor and low grade weapons, logistical problem, shortage of artillery, restriction of a domestic and very capable MBT into induction, no indigenous APC program sanctioned, high frustration and de-moralization cases, low political say in the country compare to any other Army in the world and what not.
Now compare this to Navy that has actually been steadily acquiring latest battle ships, is on the verge of getting 2 carriers (1 100% new and 1 70%+ new), 5 nuclear indigenous submarines and Project 17 class stealth warships. The only hiccup is Scorpene's swindling by French.
IAF: 6 years over no MMRCA fighter selected, let alone inducted. Tejas still in testing phase, Tejas Mk.2 still "work going on", AMCA still in "specifications phase", PAKFA secret, IJT-36 Sitara NO NEWS, Basic prop trainers NO NEWS. IAF has only time till 2012 to prove to the country that it is not fooling around with national defence keeping all promises for the "future".
