Iran will never attack any country: grand ayatollah

TEHRAN – Iran never intends to launch military strike against any country, Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi stated on Thursday.

Islam strictly forbids anything that causes massacre, and Iran never intends to attack any country, Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said at a meeting with the president of the International Committee of the Red Cross for the Middle East region.

He pointed to the recent statement of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in which he reiterated that nuclear weapons are haram (forbidden in Islam), but certain Western politicians claimed the Leader's statement was politically motivated.

Makarem Shirazi added that this was not the case at all.

"The Shia and Sunni and other denominations of Islam hold a unanimous view that weapons of mass destruction are banned in Islam," he stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Makarem Shirazi advised the International Committee of Red Cross to distance itself from political slogans and acknowledge the realities in the region.

He also said the Red Cross should not allow that donations by the major powers to influence its policies.

At the end, he praised the International Committee of Red Cross for its efforts in providing assistance and relief aid to the victims of natural disasters across the globe

Its always that iran or old purssia was attacked form outsiders from greeks to arabs ,turks,british.Its old Zoroastrian culute was wiped out by spate of outside attacks.today major Zoroastrian(also known as parsi) population/culture survived in india with mumbai and pune as their main center.

Actually the Iranian Regime kind of showed itself outside the Line of Islam(Which is so gloriously says it adheres to) when it brutally cracked down on demonstrators, killing innocent women and men. That too is prohibited in Islam along with Weapons of Mass Destruction, If I am not Mistaken!

Even if Iran seriously denounced nuclear weapons, the kind of statements its leadership passes and the belligerence it shows belies its beliefs. If Iran is really serious, then it should not give the west another reason to do an Iraq on Iran. It should come clean.

I guess a war changes the way rules are interpreted.
