Contiued from above,

To give you an idea of weight of military equipment, I think the number circled in yellow gives the weight of the equipment

A usual vanilla troop/goods carrier has maximum 12tonne max loaded weight (see the yellow circle)

Smerch weighs 40 tonnes (see the yellow circle)

Akash truck weighs 40 tonnes

Brahmos truck weighs 70 tonnes

Chardham Road project in Uttarakhand

Pithoragarh has a Military Station and an Advance Landing Strip(ALG). It is home to 69th Mountain Brigade.
Dharchula is also a military station and lies on route to Manasarovar via Lipulekh pass.

Earlier Dharchula-Lipulekh route was very crude route. Indian pilgrims used to go to Mansarovar via Nepal. But now the route has been made motorable.

Both Pithoragarh and Dharchula will play important role in defending Lipulekh Pass (a hot new dispute between India, China and Nepal).

Tanakpur is the last railway station. So all logistics will be carried there and then via road to Pithoragarh, Dharchula etc.

East of Bumla this Road network totaling 50 km was constructed post 2013.

Existing road = yellow
New Road = Green
Border = Red

02.JPG

The road is almost parallel to the border and at times just 1km away from border.

The construction was fast.
Not a single trace of construction in 2013-14 imagery.

The next imagery of 2015-16 is jampacked with roads, new army camps, helipads, bunkers and trench lines!!!!

Koloriang is not a village. Its a town and district headquarter of Kurung Kumey district.
Its relatively newly found district of AP and hence the expansion is on going.
Ooh!
That solves the mystery. Thanks!
I do know that 3 4 new districts were created in Arunachal, but did not know the minute details.

10 years in making, longest bridge on Manali–Leh highway complete
Set to open for traffic this month

The longest bridge on the strategic Manali – Leh highway, located in Himachal Pradesh, is complete and will be opened for traffic this month.

While easing the flow of traffic, the new structure had greatly increased load carrying capacity.

Known as Barsi Bridge, it is the second longest bridge of its kind in the country after the Col Chewang Rinchen Setu across Shyok river on route to the world’s highest landing ground at Daulat Beg Oldie in Ladakh.

The 360-metre long bridge over the Bhaga river at Darcha took about 10 years to construct owing to the difficult terrain, inclement weather and limited working season due to long snow bound winters, BRO sources said.

It is a steel-truss structure in which the load bearing super structure is constructed of a rigid assembly of steel beams. In addition to the abutments on either end, the length is supported by five piers arising from the river bed.

Bridge is at Darcha, north of Atal Tunnel on Leh-Manali highway

Mostly like all new concrete bridges which are being built (lot of bridges in news, defence minister inaugrated many small bridges almost every month) , it will be 70 tonne capable bridge

Mission Purvodaya: BJP looks to expand footprint in the East | India News - Times of India

NEW DELHI: In a bid to consolidate BJP's gains in the eastern region of the country, the Modi dispensation is poised to give more wings to its "look east" (Purvodaya) policy.
After winning the crucial Bihar polls and establishing itself in the north eastern region besides making sizeable gains in Odisha, the party is now focussed on poll-bound West Bengal where it feels being on the verge of gathering the critical mass to oust the Mamata Banerjee-led TMC.
Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan, whose ministry's "Ujjawala" scheme has been one of the mainstays of the Modi government since 2014, recently gave an elaborate account in Rajya Sabha about how the government has been giving a push to "Purvodaya".
"From Kashi to Kohima, more than 50 crore people of India live in eastern India. PM Narendra Modi has given unprecedented stress on the development of eastern India and gave the mantra of Purvodaya," Pradhan said in Rajya Sabha last Thursday, while participating in the debate on the Vote of Thanks to the President's address.
The minister said this is not merely a slogan for the government but a 'mantra' for governance. "Whether it's Ujjwala Yojana, toilets construction, Jan Dhan Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, Urja Ganga, UDAN Yojana or other schemes of the government, people of eastern India have been major beneficiaries," he claimed.
The party also got encouraging response in the eastern region, including the northeast and West Bengal, and also eastern UP.
BJP's focus on development of the region as well as the political dividends can be gauged from the fact that the PM will be visiting poll-bound West Bengal and Assam on Sunday, his second visit in less than a month.
Before his visit, the PM shared his entire itinerary on twitter in regional languages including Bengali.

Government of India and World Bank Sign Project to Improve Quality of India’s Education in Nagaland

The Government of India, Government of Nagaland and the World Bank today signed a $68 million project to enhance the governance of schools across Nagaland as well as to improve teaching practices and learning environments in select schools.

The “Nagaland: Enhancing Classroom Teaching and Resources Project” will improve classroom instruction; create opportunities for the professional development of teachers; and build technology systems to provide students and teachers with more access to blended and online learning as well as allow better monitoring of policies and programs. Such an integrated approach will complement conventional delivery models and help mitigate the challenges posed by COVID-19. About 150,000 students and 20,000 teachers in the government education system in Nagaland will benefit from the statewide reforms in schools.

Shri C.S. Mohapatra, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance, Government of India said that human resources development plays a key role in any development strategy and the Government of India has taken several concrete steps to transform the education landscape in India. He added that the education project in Nagaland will address the critical gaps faced by students and teachers and play an important role in the development of the state.

The agreement was signed by Shri Mohapatra on behalf of the Government of India; Mr Shanavas C, Principal Director, Department of School Education on behalf of the Government of Nagaland; and Mr Junaid Ahmad, Country Director, India on behalf of the World Bank.

Today, Nagaland faces challenges of weak school infrastructure, lack of opportunities for the professional development of teachers and limited capacity on the part of communities to partner effectively with the school system. The COVID-19 pandemic has further accentuated these challenges and created additional stress and disruptions to the state’s school education system.

Mr Junaid Ahmad, World Bank Country Director in India said that even as the number of children attending school in India has increased over the last few years, there is a growing need to significantly improve learning outcomes to meet the demands of the labor market and fuel future growth. This project is designed to support the Government of Nagaland’s ongoing efforts to improve and develop a more resilient education system in the state.

Strengthening Nagaland’s Education Management and Information System (EMIS) will enable wider access to education resources; support professional development and performance evaluation systems for teachers and education managers; facilitate school leadership and better management; and support examination reforms.

Mr Kumar Vivek, Education Specialist and the World Bank’s Task Team Leader for the project said that the project will support the state’s efforts to reform and improve the learning environment in schools so that they are child-centered; supportive of modern, technology-enabled teaching and learning approaches; and resilient to future shocks.

As part of that strategy, approximately 15 out of Nagaland’s 44 higher secondary schools will be developed into school complexes that operationalize the envisioned learning environment during the project period.

The $68 million loan from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has a final maturity of 14.5 years including a grace period of 5 (five) years.

Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh inaugurates the latest technology Integrated Bamboo Treatment Plant near Guwahati

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh today inaugurated the latest technology Integrated Bamboo Treatment Plant in the premises of North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC). Later, he went around the Plant, interacted with technicians and artists and was also called upon by a group of officers from Jammu & Kashmir who are currently on a Bamboo Study tour of Northeast.

Advisor North Eastern Council (NEC) Air Marshal (Retd.) Anjan Gogoi and CMD of the Centre, Shailendra Choudhary accompanied the Minister. A display of a wide variety of bamboo products was also put up in the premises.

Later addressing a press conference , Dr. Jitendra Singh said, bamboo is going to play a lead role in the post-COVID economy, not only for Northeast but, in fact, for the whole of India. He explained this further by saying that in the post-COVID era, economic resurgence will keep looking for unexplored and alternative avenues of trade and business and it is here that the huge Bamboo reserves in the North Eastern region, which had remained underutilised for all these years, will come handy and become tool of economy generation.

Dr Jitendra Singh further revealed that in a bid to make aware about the versatile applications of bamboo and its cost-effective products, the North Eastern Council and the Ministry of DoNER have initiated a country wide drive and are also encouraging Start-Ups and new entrepreneurs to explore business opportunities through bamboo. As a part of this, he said, the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir will set up three Bamboo Clusters through technical knowhow and collaboration from North East Cane and Bamboo Development Council (NECBDC). Each of the three clusters will be devoted to the production of Agarbatti, baskets and charcoal respectively, he added.

Dr. Jitendra Singh said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given the highest priority to the growth and development of the North Eastern region and it was a path-breaking decision under his leadership to exempt home grown bamboo from the purview of the 100 year old Indian Forest Act. This will help in bringing ease of doing business in the bamboo sector for the young entrepreneurs, he said.

At the same time, during the COVID-pandemic, Dr. Jitendra Singh informed that the import duty on Agarbatti coming from other countries has been hiked to nearly 35%. This will discourage import of bamboo made Aggarbatties and encourage domestic production in keeping with Prime Minister Modi’s call for “Atma Nirbhar Bharat”.
