INSAS Rifle, LMG & Carbine

It's the same working principle as the FN P90, using helical magazines.

Reload would be like a bullpup SMG.

Being a PDW it would actually be light weight and it's bullpup design would reduce recoil. Only thing I have a problem with would be the gas venting port which I would move to the sides as a selective ambidextrous feature.

the reload isnt going to be nearly as easy as you might think it will be. A bullpup design does not reduce recoil and how are you going to carry those magazines? how will they hold up against dirt and debree? and where is the trigger mechanism? the bolt looks like its reciprocating into the pistol grip, what about malfunctions, what if there is a double feed? how are you going to clear it easily?

• There is a reason why .50 BMG firearms are bullpup nowadays.
• Use a magnetic clip on device to your 'dress' and strip away the magazines for use. Just put some ferromagnetic paint on one side of the magazine and stack them into the magnetic clip holder.
• There could be an electromagnetic trigger to release the telescopic bolt. Also has a mechanical cross bolt safety. Alternatively widen the gun and add a basic trigger grouping.
• The bolt is sealed by design so no chance of debris.
• There could be a latch to open up the rear of the pistol grip to manually cycle the weapon in case of malfunctions.

It's a very weird and cyberpunk style gun but looks to be the future of PDWs.

all these examples have never been used in combat or have seen any kind of adoption.
history has shown us what happens to these kind of firearms.
i will be sceptical untill the day i see adoption.
by the way the textron rifle is least likely to win the bid, the ammo is brilliant but the complexity ensures that its impossible to service while deployed.
the sig is the only rifle is see winning the trails.

Eh.. The SLRs are held in a way every Indian usually hold rifles, facing sideways, don't know why but pretty common. Trigger disp. is ok.

The LMG has no sling, so that's only way to carry that 7kg metal in ready to fire position.

the problem is we need engineers who are avid shooters, and also understand what's required of a weapon that can be used by an army. They also have to design it keeping in mind the requirements of the future, so that it can be upgraded without huge cost.
Modular is the buzz word.

In 26/11, one Mumbai police cop tried to engage the terrorists using his 303 rifle. If he had the training or a better weapon, even if it was a INSAS, imagine the difference.

I am actually excited by the rapid proliferation of commando units in the police and availability of arms since 26/11 - now lets see what happens in the next big strike! fingers crossed.
