Army finds INSAS 1b1 rifles ‘reliable’

=================

These were first of many 1b1s with modifications based on experience from Kargil War.
Not to steal the thunder from the love of INSAS, but the article seems more like an indictment than an exoneration!! The current army's requirement is 1 stoppage in 24,000 rounds fired (which is 0.0042% stoppages). Excalibur apparently reached a quality level of 2 stoppages in 24,000 rounds fired. 1% (or slightly less than 1%) stoppages seems like a far cry!!!

Regardless of anyone's personal feelings, Its no one business to judge it, But people in business who use it and certified it for 3 million strong Army to use..

The link is provided as for those who come here regularly with nonsense, This is an old article about older 1B1s from horse mouth during 2005 which contradict to all those baseless claims ..

==============

Regarding about stoppages, Foreign designs under our conditions have much worse preform-ace even some of the home grown designs, The reason why INSAS family is still under service ..

Read the thread, Its all explained in depth ..

Excalibur :

=================================================================================

Interesting ,it has a 45 degree gas block similar to an AKM,unlike 90 degree gas block of Insas.

Fully adjustable stock is required,It allow a soldier to shoulder the rifle as per his comfort ,especially while wearing body amour.Adjustable cheek rest would help when optics are mounted on the rifle.

From what I've read and heard from ex jawans, I think the INSAS serves as the tool its meant to be i.e
a gun.The issue seems to be the quality of the materials used and the rather awkward design.

Adjustable cheek rest is pertinent for sniper and DM rifles. For a regular assault rifle it is not required as the optics used are Reflex sights - whose characteristic advantage is that the soldier's eye does not need to be fully align with the sights.

Not absolute necessary but good to have as an option,IMHO:

INSAS is the name of the family of firearms not just name of one, Don`t imitate ignorant like those in local media and western experts.

Its too delicate, The metal butt-stock actually requested instead of fiber butt-stock for this very reason ..
