Buddy a platoon has 3 section strength in it, i.e 30 men along with an officer, MOST are basically utilised in LC environment and CI city grid as conventional norm for a section and platoon strength are not applicable in above mentioned conditions. At company level apart from the strength required to man the posts boy are extracted for exclusive purposes.

If you say so mate. AFAIK...

Platoon = 3 Sections (10 men each) + Platoon HQ (Commander + 6 men) = 37

Excalibur MK1A during its trails, Its interesting to note that Army was trying out Meprolight self-powered reflex sight.
Looks like a "meet your army" event for the public, would the IA really showcase a weapon it had under trials during such an occsion? These events are usually hosted by operational units, not trail teams.

Seems to suggest the rifle is already in service.

What I don't like about the MK1A is the total lack of P-rails to mount accesories like sights, pistol/foregrips, laser illuminators or flashlights. Totally ret@rded not to have such provisions in this day and age, OFB/DRDO immaturity and IA's regressive mindset on display once again.

You are looking at MK1A not MK1C which is demanded after trails of MK1A, Specific Infantry / SF units get new weapon for trying out for limited time and prepare its report under tag of user trails, Trail team are from unit itself. MK1A was tried out back far as far 2010 and was given to SF and GR unit, Photos are posted of that time here on this thread itself.

Thanks for sharing. The fit and finish is excellent. The engraving is also very neat.

Very sleek design but the wood has got to make this rifle ungodly heavy, polymor is desperatly needed.

+ good to see the Drugnovs being replaced by a designated sniper rifle, not a designated marksmen rifle that the Drugnov is. IA needs to place more emphasis on sniper teams, they are true force multipliers in the battlefeild.
Well, Dragunov is a sniper rifle, regardless of whatever role we use it in. The technical designation of Dragunov is SVD (Снайперская Винтовка системы Драгунова . . ./Snayperskaya Vintovka sistem'y Dragunova . . .)

Question: Maroon lanyard (guy in the foreground) means he is Para?
Question 2: Does the green beret on the officer to his left mean Counter Insurgency Force?

I see INSAS rifles and LMGS in Siachen. I see Kalashnikovs. All must work pretty well in the worst environment imaginable don't they?

So how come the vaunted Tavors and M4s find no place up there? Could it be that INSAS unreliability stories are vastly overrated?

Some snaps from Siachen area ..

The reliability issues was always over rated since Kargil when it first started, In due time such problems are rectified in newer batches, By 2006 the metallurgy mixture was imported from Finland and since 1B1 had no major issues with it.

Great pics @Kunal Biswas bhai.

Just some questions:
-The INSAS within hands of our Jawans seems to missing upper front cover on its gas tube.Have they removed it ?If yes why so?
-You mentioned that Finnish metalurgical mixture was imported to rectify issues with rifle.Have we imported Finnish Valmet series rifle's mixture to make imprvements in INSAS?
