Can't wait to see the real thing..........
I was involved in the Campaign to name the first CVN-21 for US President Gearld R. Ford. Which, I had the pleasure of meeting on several occasions. (i.e. before he death)Naming of carrier? Wow - or was it the president that you named? LOL - then double wow!
What ever happened to naming them after the most successful ships in USN history? Names like Yorktown, Hornet, Constitution, Constellation, and soon to be Enterprise will be lost with the replacement of a bunch of do nothing presidents like Bush, Ford and Truman. It is going to be a sad day when Enterprise gets decommed with no replacement named after her and you can know you helped play a part in that trend.I was involved in the Campaign to name the first CVN-21 for US President Gearld R. What you are doing deserves respect? You should be campaigning to get them named after decorated ships of the USN. You are losing your history.Clearly, your lack of respect for others. Is obvious for everyone to see....
With all do respect Gerald R. Ford is part of American History. He was a Star Foot Ball Player for the Unverisity of Michigan, a Decorated WWII Naval Veteran, US Congressman, US Vice president, and finally US President. Further, he lead the US through some very difficult times. Respectfully, you don't understand what you are saying............Clearly, you know nothing of US Presidents. As a matter of fact President Ford was highly respected in both Political Parties and by the vasy Majority of Americans. As for ship names the USN has far fewer ships that it did just 20-30 years ago. In short far more names than ships. Though several you meantioned have been named after Aegis Cruisers. What ever happened to naming them after the most successful ships in USN history? Well It still stands , There may not be another Ship that will carry on the name Enterprise(Arguably the most famous name for a ship). With all do respect Gerald R. Ford is part of American History. There was a very good reason there never named ships after people , If they were sunk it was taken that it would reflect badly on the leaders they borrowed their names fromUSS Dwight D. Eisenhower
(CVN 69) 18 Oct 1977 /
USS Carl Vinson
(CVN 70) 13 Mar 1982 /

The same reason why The Nimitz Class Carrier was named after the Admiral.Well It still stands , There may not be another Ship that will carry on the name Enterprise(Arguably the most famous name for a ship).
Instead , The last few ships have been ,

That's why we had names like Bismark and Not Adolf something something.
I honestly can't see why the entire new range of US carriers will be known as the Gerald R. Ford Class.
Only Tico named there was Yorktown and it is decommissioned. President Ford was NOT one of America's greatest presidents.Clearly, you know nothing of US Presidents. Like that name means more than any of the historical names of USN ships that won battle stars across the Pacific with names stretching back defeating British warships? Those names are vastly more important to naval history than Gerald R. Ford. With all do respect Gerald R. Ford is part of American History. That's the thing p2p , at least the Nimitz class was named after an admiral. The same reason why The Nimitz Class Carrier was named after the Admiral.
Subsequent ships in the Ford Class will be named after other presidents too.
Many of those Historical Names will be used in the future and nobody in the US Navy, US Government, or General Public have said otherwise.Only Tico named there was Yorktown and it is decommissioned. President Ford was NOT one of America's greatest presidents.
I believe its up to Americans to decide who is a "Great American President".

An Amphibious Carrier is already named after the Bonhomme Richard...........They should name one of their warships the Bonhomme Richard. It was America's first true fighting ship.
It is going to be a sad day when Enterprise gets decommed with no replacement named after her and you can know you helped play a part in that trend.
Sorry, you really don't know what you are talking about. It's not official (yet) but it's very likely the second CVN-21 (CVN-79) will be named USS Enterprise. Which, is hardly new.......
Oh, I had no idea. Thanks for the info.An Amphibious Carrier is already named after the Bonhomme Richard...........

If you go by the wiki translation a super carrier is one that displaces more than 70,000 long tonnes, however i have no reason to believe that is an official term.If there will be a 65000 t carrier, will it be a supercarrier size ship`??
