Well, Americans' ESSEM missile which was developed to handle Russian supersonic cruise missiles (Mach 3) has Mach 4 max speed. Our India friends believe that a missile with Mach 2 speed can handle hypersonic ballistic missile, interesting.

Still ski jump limits the range and payload an aircraft can carry, If Vikrant(that is we must be always ready to) is to carry out strike missions it would need that range and delivery
