You don't need high speed to shoot down a missile that is heading towards you. In fact lower speed often means that your final stage interceptor is more maneuverable. Also the fact that it is ballistic means that you will see it much earlier than a sea skimming cruise missile.

Having a hypersonic ballistic missile isn't really a big deal. Most longer range ballistic missiles are hypersonic. Having the sensor to guide a ballistic missile to a moving target is the real challenge.

Barak-8 is Mach 3+. There are news of Barak-8 shooting down Iskander M. What's really interesting is some people here believe intercepting a short-medium range ballistic missile is a hard task for a country like India. If the chinese can come up with a maneuverable hypersonic cruise missiles on their ships, that'd be news. There is currently no missile in service onboard any chinese ship that can't be intercepted by Indian ships. Actual combat scenario and scope of saturation are different things.

09:25 the CNS says the plan for Vikrant includes LCA-N, does that mean there is a chance of some production LCA-N being ordered (in very limited numbers) I wonder? Would be weird to mention the NPs as they aren’t IN assets and aren’t combat machines either
