Really amateur question.View attachment 168932
If anyone wants to have an idea of which jet will win mrcbf contest, just see this picture. The entrance to the hanger is even smaller than the lift itself. Enough to pass foldable wing MiG 29k and F-18s( i am not sure of length of F-18). Regarding Rafale we have to see how much of the 'wingtip' or wing of Rafale needs to be removed each time one has to get in and out of hanger
I read somewhere 32 barak-8 will be presentJust noticed, is it 32 Barak-8 or 64 Barak-8?
Is it me or anyone who has relied on submarines as their crore strategy tend to lose in wars .Germans in WW1 and WW2,Soviets ,napkais in 1971India defensive country vroo....India doesn't need Aircraft carriers vro ..
Somebody needs to correct Wikipedia. This entire time I was expecting Vikrant to carry 64 Barak-8. I thought that even with less VLS on our destroyers, the carrier battlegroup would have enough sams.I read somewhere 32 barak-8 will be present
Never heard of 64
Its more to do with the 2 views in the IN. One is of the opinion, that, carriers need to be given priority. Second, believes sub surface fleet has to be given priority. The IN wants both. Question they need to answer is, which first. It’s not even about money so much as neither option really works.
it’s highly unlikely both IN carriers will be put to sea simultaneously (other than for some PR and high level exercises). They’ll just flog the ~40 odd MIG-29K to death (sadly this is quite literal). The 2020s and 2030s are going to be a very rough time for Indian carrier history, there will be a lot of tragedy and shortcomings but IN only has themselves to blame for this
32, as is already pointed out.Just noticed, is it 32 Barak-8 or 64 Barak-8?
At this point I am even doubting if the four Oto Merla 76mm would be present because they are also not metioned in the Navy's presentation.32, as is already pointed out.
Some pics-

It was always going to be 32, but we deluded ourselves into believing that it will be 64 for some reason.
Even F-18's 9.8m folded looks TIGHT fit...View attachment 168932

Correction : F-18's folded wingspan is actually 9.32 m and not 9.8m.Even F-18's 9.8m folded looks TIGHT fit...
Insane headache in the name of IAC-1 is developed by short-sighted clowns.
Being too liberal with the timeline buddy.IN will be a 2 carrier force at least until the mid 2040s
am I seeing shit or does it say Windows XP on the screen?Ops Room i.e Combat Information Centre of INS Vikrant
Yes it says "Windows XP" on the screen.
Nope. IN hasn’t even completed the design of IAC-2 or even gotten to the fundamentals of what they want- nuclear powered? EMALS?Being too liberal with the timeline buddy.
We might see another carrier being flagged after 2024 elections. Either that or a Nuclear propelled one in 2030.
It’s over. F-18 isn’t happening despite all the Boeing talking points thrown out thereIf this "Data" about the Lift size of INS Vikrant is accurate then the F/A-18 will fit on the lift more comfortably than the Rafale-M as F/A-18 is having a folded wingspan of 9.32 m which is enough to fit on Vikrants lift. Another advantage for F/A-18 in IN's MRCBF tender for in my opinion.
A few years ago ATM all across India were running Widnows XP.
