Current talks are about getting a new carrier asap which is possible with Vikrant class only.

new catobar carrier will make them go to design phase which will alone take long time and construction start to completion will take 10-15 yrs easily.
That we shall see what do they prefer a copy of vikrant faster or a catobar Vishal few years later.

yes, it seems there is equal amount of chatter on Twitter about both options.
half the crowd is giving hints that second Vikrant class is in talks and other half is saying new catobar design carrier in 60-65K ton size is in talks.

Let's see which one is selected. But one thing everyone is sure about that an order will be given for 3rd carrier within this year. I personally think 2nd Vikrant will be coming.

EMALS -- ok, surely its a joke. May be we can launch paper planes with them in getting total stealth. I agree we should go for 2 more and then focus on replacing them with 80k ton. Hope the vishwaguru and softie Modiji announces one more officially.

Regarding the 3rd AC, it will be a 60k-65k tonne conventionally powered carrier. Most probably CATOBAR. Although heard from some corners that BEL is working on EMALS. The new 300m long dry dock is being constructed at a rapid pace in Kochi.
EMALS is not easy thing. Apart from US which itself face issues with EMALS only French were able to built it with little US help (is it real EMALS or steam powered one?)

BEL is working on EMALS can means anything from it will take anywhere from 5-15 yrs to build and prove.

My professor did research and came up with an algorithm to understand the tail movements of a squirrel....point is BEL looks into many things from an academic interest and possibilities aspect and it does not mean they are actively building something. Let them give us a functioning integrated radar for our ships then we will see. Too much hype now a days...

Hope the vishwaguru does not start a yoga session and rather chooses Kalaripayattu to get the josh going....time and place as per tradition.

Regular tube lights?
You want some tube light with 'military grade' sticker on it? You got it 👍
BTW, building two more IAC-1 is one of the most stupidest ideas. It's a statement.

"No." the best you'll see is sanctioning the detailed design phase of IAC-2 with a foreign partner. Navy does not need or want another IAC-1 class carrier.

The French haven't built any catapult assisted take off system, the current one (steam) on CDG & the EMALS one on PA-NG, both, were/will be imported from US.

Aiui, that was just a proof of concept/TD, IAC-2 will have GA's EMALS.

Yes, hope they are military grade and since I have experience in manufacturing plants, we constantly introduce efficiencies and decluttering when building new plants or upgrading old ones. I won't claim its relevant here but just a job based observation that there are too many lights. Please do tell us what does our Navy want? Nimitz class?

What? What made you think that these lights are too many?
Vikramaditya- View attachment 168724View attachment 168725
QEC - View attachment 168726

No, it wants IAC-2, shall Navy have it now?
It still looks too many lights, QEC looks better and clean roof.
IAC 2, its not even laid. One carrier in a class is a dumb strategy unless they consider this purely POC learning project. Not even time for maintenance, IAC-2 unless laid now will feel like an imaginary target while we limp with one

Yes corrected by other user already. The point was it is not something which anyone can make. Only US and China are the one building them.

Question is not how, but why ? Both china & usa going to build more than 5 or 10 EMALS CVs, that why they R&D EMALS. India only need for 1 or 2 in future. On the other hand India working with US for IEP,

I call this crap strategy....we will end up with nothing in time. Get the AMCA/TEDBF and improved IAC-1 to address non optimal design decisions. Rest all is most likely black hole....

A Vikrant class copy should be considered to retire the INS Vikramaditya ASAP.
If the Mig-29K are going to remain in service even if the INS Vikramaditya, we will be saving quite a lot of money on the aviation component, so in all probability a INS Vikrant copy would not cost more than $3.5-4 billion

We should sell the INS Vikramaditya back to the Russians and recoup our investment once we get the IAC-2 online.
