Only TEDBF can fit in that
Considering Vikrant inherited the same tiny elevators, and SEVMASH made Vikramaditya's new forward elevator much larger than this (9.9m wide compared to 8.6m), I'm not sure it's a legacy so much as India just having no experience with designing a carrier.
One guy in that thread..
I didnt verify yet .

Lift it INS Vikramadatya are oddly placed. We corrected the mistake in INS Vikrant.
The VIkramadtiya lifts were correctly places as she was Baku. The redesign meant that what was once a deck edge lift is now more right of centre. Its a terribly half botched redesign that somehow works

Hold your horses. 6th gen jets are still in conceptual state . They will take decades to proliferate.

F22 first flew in 1997. Now we are 2022. After 25 years other than USA no one has 5th gen plane in decent numbers.
By that theory if us fly 6th gen in 2027, then usaf starts fielding 6th gen in 2035, same time of amca mk2, also usaf build & flew 6th gen td.
US 5th gen program started during 1985, and first prototype flew in 1990.
6th gen focused on air superiority and dominance against 6th and old gen jets with drone c&c also 4.5 th & 5 th gen also use drone c&c, 6th gen tech. In simple, 6th is like f22/f15/pak fa/su 27/mig 31 etc developed to deploy post 2040 and also able to become killer/hunter killer drone with out human pilot in it.

Not that fast. US needs a whole new engine for 6th gen jets. All these unmanned thing can be added to 5th gen jets itself .

What sets apart 6th gen is ultra long ranges with variable cycle engines. Which being totally new engine will take decade plus to be in operational service. And it will be prohibitively costly to own and operate.

4.5-5th gen jets are costing 250 million including spares weapons and f35 has 35000 USD per hour flying cost.

A 6th gen jet will cost 400 million with spares weapons bases and will cost 50000 USD per hour to fly.

Other than USA no one else can afford that in numbers. Untill economy of scale prevails which will take another decade or two for most of the world.

Coming to chinese they don't even have an engine as advanced as ge 414. Their so called 5th gen jets are basically 3rd gen in engine and barely 4th gen in avionics.

It will take decades before they have a fifth gen engine and another 2 decades before they have a 6th gen engine.

Who cares ??
US- their air superiority jets sucks, one with high rcs & other with low rcs
EU- double sucks thanks to not having advanced stealth tech or 5th gen jet
Russia- totally sucks
China- want to build 6th gen first, but can't build a decent 4.5gen engine till
Japan- no raptor
USN- misses tomcat
Bottom- each 6th gen pgrm is different, and only considering just usaf makes other bad, like iac1 is bad a ac dute to it lacks capability/tech of usn ac.
Variable cycle engines is a requirement for usaf, to escort/defend b21 into/in battlefield if aerial tanker is not available. Usn working on stealth tanker drone, and yes both usn, usaf use Variable cycle engines.
Those who can afford 250 million jet today can afford 400 million jet tomorrow, unless their economy collapse.
afford in numbers - wait, which country can afford advanced 4/5th gen 2500 combat jets, currently can also afford 6tg gen in nos, plus china in future, unless.

Talks on going for the second Vikrant class carrier. The shipyard is promising to deliver the second Vikrant class carrier in just 7-8 years.
That would be bad idea. Take the Vikrant as a baseline, expand it slightly and convert to EMALS catobar. a 50k tonne CATOBAR carrier that can carry 30+ fixed wing fighters.

If you need a carrier in next 7-8 years then Vikrant class makes sense.
If you go for a bigger Carrier with EMALS and other things than it wont be coming before 15 yrs.

They should go far a catobar atleast since even fewer jets can carry more payload from catobar compared to stobar.

We can see that Carrier air wing costs way more than carrier itself these days. Hence should put money on catobar for optimum solutions even if takes 4-5 more years to deliver .

Current talks are about getting a new carrier asap which is possible with Vikrant class only.

new catobar carrier will make them go to design phase which will alone take long time and construction start to completion will take 10-15 yrs easily.
